My goal is to install a H/U in place of the cassette deck in my UZZ31 Soarer. I've connected the H/U into the existing plugs with an Aeropro Toyota harness and switched it on. The lights on the H/U turn on, the lights are all nice and pretty although there is no sound. Am I missing something?

I did notice there was a blue plug that I couldn't find a home home.. possible culprit?

Assuming you ARE talking EMV cassette deck (that has been taken out of circuit)then you are missing a lot.
You need to wire your new head unit to the speakers and radio aerial . You will loose all EMV HIFI features with the cassette unit out of circuit.
