Is it okay to mount the tweeter directly onto the bracket with just a piece of mounting tape? I've taken the tweeter out of it's pod and stuck the magnet on to the tape, bare. Will this cause any problems?

tom, in the focal kit you get 2 tweeter mounting options. one has an angled back for surface mounting, the other (which is the one you use) is for flush mounting, it is a skinny one, and it has a hole in the middle that you just put the factory screw through

I don't have the factory screw anymore.. I stuck the other tweeter in with some silicone glue so that it was as flush as possible, but the cover still doesn't fit over it perfectly.

i suppose the main thing is the factory tweeter cover goes over and the speaker doesn't move. but in response to your original question, it will not wreck the tweeter in any way

I mounted the tweeter on its swivel base using the factory screw, but double sided tape or silicon would probably do just as well. I cut a hole in the cover so the tweeter grill can protrude slightly through and be angled to face the driver. I then covered the cover in black cloth. I found that by angling the tweeter towards me I got a lot more of the very directional high frequencies.
