Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody had any opinions on a full install for around $1.5k. Currently I am running stock speakers except for a 12" 400W RMS pioneer sub and no name amp.
Right now I am looking at installing a full entry level Focal system which includes:
solid 4 amp $599 4x75W RMS
165 A1 $299 (6.5" splits) 60W RMS
165 CA1 $199 (6.5" coax) 60W RMS
Or I was going to order a Soundstream set from ryda for a bit cheaper. (around 900-1k)
I am debating whether to keep or replace the sub and amp because I like the boot space, but money is a problem. If I do choose to replace the sub, I would want something that is of similar power and/or something that I can fit into the parcel shelf (or at least use less space).
I was also wondering if the sub would sound noticeably better with a better quality amp, because right now it sounds a little muffled and dirty at times.
Have to say that the speakers really blew me away on first impression. IMO they sounded a lot smoother and more balanced than similar boston acoustic or rockford solutions.
I will be doing the install with a mate of mine who's done around 10 cars privately and was wondering if getting some sound deadener would be worthwhile. The doors of the soarer already weigh a ton and i don't know if adding deadener would make much of a difference.
Also, can anybody point me anywhere that i can read up on how to do the install myself?
Better yet, does anybody with a clue want to help with the install for some beer or choice of beverage? lol

They are good brands and if you have listened to them and YOU are happy with the sound then go for it, sound is subjective and people have different tastes as too what they deem to sound best
Also keep in mind that it wont sound exactly the same as on a demo board as the dynamics are totally different to if it were installed in a car
As a result a solid installation could be the difference between you being left disappointed or blown away, not saying that you shouldn't do it yourself, but when you are doing the install it pays to think ahead to save yourself hassles in the future

IMO rockford don't make that good a speaker except for their subs. i have 2 12inch T1's really wanted T2's but that's another story. maybe have a look at Infinity Perfect 6.1 they are such nice crisp sounding drivers. have a look at http://www.caraudiowarehouse.com.au always good prices. i put dynamat in my doors and boot etc. not to keep sound out more so you keep the noise in. just to help give it all a better feel.

i found out that the rears are 6"1/2 and i don't need anything else to bolt the new ones straight onto the factory mounts. i might actually try making a custom parcel shelf another day just because 18 years of wear has left my rear speaker grille looking quite disgusting.
right now i am just waiting for my mate to come along so we can start making the MDF mounting brackets for the front speakers.
my new question is how do i fit the tweeter while keeping the stock grille... the tweeter is just bigger than the stock one and i cant close the stock tweeter grille with it installed. can i at least not make the trim not stick out somehow? any ideas people?

another issue i ran into was the fact that the crossovers are too big to fit inside the door trim and i might have to waterproof them and stick them in between the door panels then attach with a lot of tape or velcro.
made custom brackets for the front speakers though using some 16mm MDF i bought from bunnings. took 3 goes but at least it fits!
might have a go at fibreglassing some custom tweeter mounts in a few months, for now i'll just make do with the tweeters sticking out of the trim.
