Hi guys, for weeks now my stereo has been 80% complete awaiting for the sub and amp installation. Finally have some free time on my hands and im wondering what is the best way to get through the firewall to hook the amp to the battery?

Karl, there is a rubber grommet on the drivers side of the firewall. Take that out and it gets you access to the foot well on the drivers side. You need to pull the carpet back (its a pain in the ass as the pedals are there but you will work it out), then I used a coat hanger to poke down the hole in the engine bay, tape your power cable to that coat hanger then pull it up into the engine bay.
NOTE: The rubber grommet you take out should be a blank. (if its not or there is no grommet to begin with, get one) You would be wise to cut a small slit in it and push the power cable through it and refit the grommet into the hole to stop the metal body of the car cutting the cable, you don't want that to happen!
Also make sure you route the cable behind the carpet and behind the trim piece on the right side of the car to make sure it doesn't interfere with the pedals/your feet.

you can use the passenger side wiring harness same thing just poke or cut a hole in the rubber surround and poke the power wire through provides a much shorter and more direct route i have tried both and this provides less voltage drop

You shouldnt experience a voltage drop of any significance if you are using the correct size power cable.
Karl, whatever side you decide to run the power cable just make sure you run your signal cables seperately to the power cable, either down the other side or even up the centre of the car if you are going to the trouble of taking the carpet out.
