Are the standard head units (CD, Tape or CD/Tape with stacker) interchangeable with all model Soarers? If not, how would one go about making a particular head unit compatible with his/her Soarer? Thanks

there is a possability, the main plugs may very well be the same. i know that the main power loom with the front speakers and the rear speaker loom will be the same. the only difference will possibly be the stacker loom. Is there any reason you want to interchange between factory soarer units?

I have a tape unit, want to put in a cd unit. Not looking into aftermarket stuff as yet.

The plugs in the back of the units are different to each other. From memory tape unit has 3 plug sockets and cd unit has 2, as well as different number of pins on each plug. Just wondering how to get around it if possible. Has anyone done something like this?

They definitely differ between the update years 91-94 & 94-96 - can't comment on the rest.

You will need to get the dash stereo loom out of a car with a CD head unit. There are quite a few different ones, with sub, without etc.
I upgraded my V8 to a stacker system, and got the loom out of a car that had a stacker. Then just plug and play. I got mine from Just Jap at Kirrawee in Sydney.
