Firstly, i have an EMV, and a few days ago i pressed the radio button to change station, and the screen went white, with nothing to press. I pressed on the screen in a few places in case it still changed station, but no good. Also happens with the Aircon button, all others seem ok. If i press the button again, the screen goes back to the standard EMV screen. Anyone know what this might be? easy fix or something worse?
Second, i'm thinking of replacing the EMV with a new AU lcd touchscreen stereo system etc. Should i be getting an aircon control unit from a TT or a V8 non EMV? or does it not matter? To make the connection between the standard connections and the new unit, i'll need some of those white loom plugs correct? where would i get them from? Thanks for the info in advance

Chris, I'm only new to soarers but i do know enough about electronics (Mechatronic engineer) to know what you have in mind would be harder than you think. I also have the EMV, luckily mine has been repaired in the past and hope it will last for a few years yet. If it does start to play up I have a similar plan to yourself by installing the TT air-con control and an after market touch screen display/audio unit. I have read on here you can install the TT air control unit, but does require a bit of work to do so. But keep searching, you'll find it eventually.
Also there are no real generic loom pulgs that Im awear of. Each manufacturer might put at least 50 - 100 different plugs on each vehicle, then change them all again on the next model. So best bet is to cut off old plugs and re splice new connections as required.
As for the AU touch screen Id stick with after-market unit, anything from another production vehicle will have more trouble trying to connect, wire, mount, and get the comms working it than its worth.

yeah i saw that thread, but i'm not sure if it's EMV related, or Radio related etc.. Had issues with the Radio unit before, which i have replaced with another second hand one, which i'm wondering if that's now failing again.. or EMV
Yeah i know replacing the EMV with aftermarket LCD is a lot of work, which is why i'm hesitant to do it.. but if i have to i will..
