I have read the threads on the subject, and I want to put a 8 inch free air sub into my parcel tray, hopefully with a stock cover compatible with the sub, and the amp fastened in next to it. if anyone can recommend a supplier in wellington, and can give part numbers for what I should be looking for, I would be very grateful. I also have a cable that isn't plugged into anything running to the back parcel shelf, from god knows where, could this be used as a signal cable? the end result I am aiming for will be 4 inch speakers in front, 6 in back, powered by a single din head unit, either factory speakers or aftermarket, and an 8 inch sub for that little bit of extra bass. again, any help will be appreciated
I thought of doing this in a Celsior a while ago, but I could only find about 2 8" free air sub woofers and they were not that good.
Will be harder to find a good sub.
You can use the wires for the sub woofer as speaker level inputs on an amp with that feature to run the sub, I was also thinking if the Original sub woofer amp uses some sort of signal wire you could use that on another amp?

I will be doing this pretty soon, as i have recently started full time employment, and have a bit of spare cash. I want to install an 8 inch free air, and I will run decent shielded cables and a 12v switched power supply to the boot, to run the amp which I will hide above the fuel tank, I want to put a 12v outlet in the boot and one in the parcel tray, or perhaps where the ashtray is now, as well as new signal cables for the back speakers, and I will probably replace all the speakers with new ones.
I have been told a jaycar amp is the one to get, but any advice on speakers and where to run my power would be much appreciated.
I don't want to break the bank here, the end result will be an 8 inch sub, 2x 6 inch speakers in back, 2x 4 inch speakers in front with tweeters, single dinn head unit with bluetooth, and a 12v plug in the boot, one in the parcel shelf, and I want to make room in the future for things like a second amp or permanent inverter, etc

that's something I will look at. but a 10 will require special mounting, a 8 will simply drop right into the hole in the parcel shelf, with bolt-holes ready to go. the big deal for me is what speakers to put in, any advice here would be appreciated.

I have bought the first part of my setup, a jvc KD-R805 head unit with usb, bluetooth, mp3 playback etc. I am looking at pioneer speakers, does anyone have experience with them, and if so, was it good or bad?
I used to have Pioneer speakers in the nineties. They were pretty good for the price. Best value for money now is probably AVI. They come in all kinds of specs. You just have to find an importer (could be tricky in NZ).

I have bought a 10 inch venom sub from jaycar, very flat, can be mounted freeair, and cheap to boot. now I just need speakers, and I can get started on fitting and wiring. apparently 4 inch speakers with tweeters are very rare.

Or sometimes expensive. Again, AVI have them. I can try to find a NZ supplier or as the OZ supplier if he can do special deals with NZ. Just let me know.

don't worry about that, if I have to I will buy standard 4s and use the factory crossovers and tweeters. I would like to know if you can squeeze a 4.5 or 5 inch speaker into a 4 inch hole, however, as there are plenty of 5 inch speakers with remote tweeters.
