hehe my 130 dollar one if you press on the "songs" it'll just bring up an onscreen display of arrows and fast forward buttons etc so its all done indirectly for changing songs.
Of course the same buttons (most of them) are replicated on the faceplate below it, and then even more are on the remote.
Haha well obviously your 'cheap' headunit is much better than that so good choice!
On that topic though, i'll probably work out if it's possible to flash on a new software UI. Basically its Windows CE underneath the software as the OS so its not totally impossible for me to get back to windows CE and copy out the programs and perhaps modify or change them then upload it all again.
A few people have been doing it around the interwebs but the posts are pretty old now and their tools no longer hosted

Ah its ziptied to the main wiring loom, and that managed to last 18 years, she'll be right. Though I still suggest strongly to hide its giant red skin with a black shroud

nah its pretty good except for the onscreen display overlay for mp3's. i can still use regular next buttons to avoid it just its not suitable to drive and fiddle with at the same time, too much concentration lost on driving
yes it would be for aesthetics.
Also 130 dollars to me is about 13 weeks of saving. Afterall I'm a student. I go drinking once a month on my wages, and there's my few spare dollars a week.

in that case aiden i retract my suggestion. beer money is a lot more important at your age. Builds character and toughens you up for the later years when the real drinking starts

haha yeah it does also having no money has given the character i have now. IE: fix everything i can myself. Help as many of my friends as i can. Look at how to improve my quality of life without the use of money. Sometimes solutions are surprising!
Like the day I realised I could buy a soarer for $6.5k haha
