Hey guys
I've had my head unit for just over a year and just recently it stopped working on me.Its a pioneer 5650,At first no sound was coming out of the speakers except a low bass from the sub.
I've checked the wiring nothing seems to be wrong as its been good for about three months without any problems. It turns on still but now the back of the head unit heats up and its really hot to touch. It has blown three fuses and a bit of smoke has come out.
Can anyone tell me if the problem is with the unit itself or is something to do with the wiring???

Check the speaker wiring for shorts (between wires and from wiring to earth). Almost certainly it is the power amp overheating....could be shorted speakers or a faulty amp chip....or both.

I put in another stereo yesterday it all worked fine again and found that one of my speakers caused the stereo to produce no sound...I wanted to test the old one again to see if it would work minus the other speaker....
now i dont know if it was the stereo or something i did while playing with the wires but the cigarette fuse blew.....I replaced the fuse but now both stereos dont work....
i dont have a clue what could be wrong the silence is killing me :p Please help
