Having trouble understanding you - but you have a 1997 JZZ31 according to your profile - so no, you do not have a EMV - that was only available in V8 model Soarers. You most likely have the factory sat nav/tv system. Unlike the EMV, it has no connectivity to the rest of the car beyond all the junk in the boot for the (useless outside of Japan) satnav.
You can rip it all out and put in whatever you want. Personally I put in a 1 DIN Panasonic headunit with USB and a pocket underneath it to fill the gap, and replaced all the junk in the boot with a Sony Amp for the bass. Looks great, sounds great. The old volume nob is now useless, but honestly I don't notice it any more.

I went to Quakers Hill High then Wyndham Collage and currently at university.

Its probably not a difficult job for an electronics guru, but it was beyond my abilities, and the head unit I chose has a proper volume knob anyway.
I just left it where it is. Might take the factory volume knob out and fill the hole at some point, as I can probably manage to do a decent job of that. To be honest its not something that worries me though.

Really? I had all the satnav junk and factory LCD in my JZZ31, but it didn't have any AV adaptors under the cup holder - or a CD-ROM disk in the navigation computer. Something they introduced with the 97 upgrade?

Its a connector taped to the main harness under the cup holder Matthew, the VTR adapter is a extra to plug into this connector. I just cut them off and solder in a RCA plug. Look for a bulge just forward of cup holder undo some tape , the connector looks like this.

Ah, righto - found it. All disconnected on mine now! Threw all that junk away a few years ago now - I still have the LCD head unit gathering dust in the garage, but the nav computer etc is long gone to the tip. Guess I should pull out some of this useless wiring now too.

Also good to use for rev cam as no cam wiring is fitted to later models. If the trigger wire is earthed via a relay powered from reversing lights it will come on as soon as you select rev.
