Hey everyone, In about 3 or so months I will be getting a soarer(GT limited)and i am hoping i can get one with the EMV or what ever that screen is. My plan so far is to have 2x 12'' subs in the boot, a dvd stacker hooked up to the screen. Is there any way i can hook up a ps2 or link extra screens into the system??? and also....is it easy to run wires for amps and subs ? -Andrew

Yes it is possible.. and not hard to do at all.
My site (currently at www.reepa.org) shows where to run your cabling, and how to connect up a DVD player.. email me when you are ready and I will run through it with you.

What is this fascination with 2 x 12 inch subs? It does not make sense from either a technical or practical viewpoint. The ONLY advantage of a 12" sub over an 8" or 10" is that you will get a slightly higher sound output level if driven from the same signal input; solution is to use a bigger amp with the smaller sub and a sub rated to take the extra power. Given 3 subs with identical magnet, spider and voice coils (very common construction used by nearly all manufacturers) then the 8" WILL be the best performer followed by the 10" and then the 12. This is because the smaller cone is better damped and controlled giving better and tighter bass performance. The 12" in comparison will exhibit uncontrolled cone movement and much larger unwanted resonances. The smaller cone will ALWAYS give more accurate bass response with fewer undamped resonances....and will leave you some boot space. To connect a DVD or any other source to an EMV car simply connect it in place of the TV tuner. There is no other way in to the EMV system. You will have no tone controls as these do not work on the TV input. This can be overcome by fitting Vlads' Radio receiver mod ($500 fitted) which will then give you correct FM radio operation with correct frequency display and English audio screens. Extra screens can be connected to the same place (output of TV tuner) using video splitters.

You could go and get a nice big 15" I find that the 15" Lightning Audio I own is a beautiful sounding sub if it's in the right box.
It's made for thump tho so it has an aluminium cone which is not very good for SQ but...your not going to hear that much depth in your bass if the subs are in the boot anyway! Seriously, it does a good enough job and has got the thump to wake up whole streets and for anyone to say that 15's aren't responsive (meaning that the are slow to move) then come and listen to mine and be the judge.
Gah... I've had a single Kicker EX12", a Pioneer 10" free-air, and 3 Pioneer 12" bullet subwoofers in my old Soarer.
I'm still surprised what the original free-air can put out. It's enough bass without being overpowering... everyone that's heard my car thinks the speakers are aftermarket but the only thing aftermarket is the deck. Unless you want massive cop defect doof then I say it's not worth going for twin 12's in the boot. 1 12" sub is enough if your car doesn't have the stock sub.
