Just bought a soarer and am replacing the japspec head unit with a new dvd unit.
I have it all wired up apart from the remote wire coming from the amp in the boot. I traced it from the boot, took out the rear seats, lifted the carpet (not fun when you're sick), and found a strange thing. It piggybacks onto a green with silver stripes wire that plugs into a small black box under the drivers seat. I have no idea what the wire is for or what the black box is for either.
Now I did find a green wite silver stripes wire on the cars radio harness, which then converts to an orange wire, so I connected the HU's rem wire to that but the amp still doesn't turn on.
Any ideas?
Also, when I removed the previous HU, I found a yellow wire with orange stripes with the tag 'backup'. This wire has a couple of inline fuses that I traced it into the boot. It was hardwired into the old harness so I had to cut it. What could that be for?
I have pics but I can't get them down to 154kb, which is tiny!

Okay so finally figured out how to resize pics hehe.
Sorted the remote wire out, i just cut it and ran another length of wire to the HU. Now another problem has reared its head. I get poor radio reception.
After reading some information on here I thought that backup might be another wire for the antenna (since there's 2 antennas in the rear window), and it runs right next to the black and red wire from the boot (the antenna wire).
But after piggybacking that onto my HU's power antenna wire i still get poor reception.
