I have a head unit with no sub channel out and a 5 channel amp. What I need is wiring scenarios between the 2. I was thinking of splitting the rear speaker channel to feed the sub input but ignorance of the possible impedance related issues has me seeking the advice of those more experienced.

tom you can get a splitter from autobarn or super cheap auto the you can connect to the rear speak channels and that will reduce the impendence and give you rca outputs to plug into your amp quite easy.

Jaycar sell one too.
AA0480 for high-to-low-level converter. $23.95
Take the sub from the FRONT speakers as most rear speaker outputs are not full range and have little or no bass content.
Or use an amp with built-in filters.
Jaycar AA0475 for adjustable sub filter. $32.95

Thanks Mark, the amp has built in filters and I'll use the front channel as suggested.
