Hi guys,
I've decided I want to set up a new sound system in the Soarer by buying some new 4" splits, 6" for the rear and kicker sub running off a 150W RMS mono block. Id also like to run the 4" splits and 6" rears off a 4 way Amp.
Just want to know how do I wire up the 4" splits and the 6" rears to the amp and then to the deck??
On that topic I also need to run the sub to the amp and then to the dock??
Do I need 2 amp wiring kits? And do I need a head deck that supports double din or not?
Some advice would be good guys I havnt done sound for ages and some steps would be a good refresher if you don't mind

You replacing the head deck with an aftermarket one?
Preferably a head deck with 2 RCA outs as each one will go to an amp. wiring up the 4" and 6" speakers is no different to wiring up the sub. 4 channel amp, positive to positive negative to negative. Sub should be wired up to the monoblock, then RCA's to the head deck. You will need to run a "remote" cable to each amp (tell's the amp to power on when head deck powers on).
Double din is referring to space taken up in the dashboard. You should have the space to run either.
As for powering the amps. you could use 4AWG from battery to amps, then a dist. block from 4 to 8 gauge at the amps

Their already is a aftermarket head deck in. But yes I did mean 2 RCA pre outs. Ill pull it out and have a look With the 2 remote cables from each amp do I twist the ends together and terminate them into the remote section on the head deck? Or is their 2 remote sections to separate them?
Also is it ok to run the cables down each side of the car under the foot rest when you open the door?

You can get around not having 2 RCA outs. Run one set of RCA lines from head unit to amps if you only have one set of pre-outs on the head unit, then at the amps, use an electronic crossover to split between the two amps, and this will also allow you to control what frequencies go to which amps/speakers. as for the remote sections depends again on the head deck. If there is only 1 section, twist then solder them together.
Running cables down each side of the car should be fine. As far as i am aware there is not much cabling there for it to interfere with (anyone feel free to correct me if i am wrong, just haven't seen any personally).

Hey haydn
most people run speakers to the head unit/deck if they arent a big special speaker (anything over 30 watts rms should be ran by an amp to get BEST performance). Most brand name entry level speakers are no more than 30 - 40 watts rms. RMS is it's consistent power needed to perform well.
PMPO stands for Peak Music Power Output, its usually the first number they'll slap on a retail box (i.e. 200 WATTS PEAK POWER/MAX POWER). It's useless to even judge its proper power so the RMS power (which should always be on the specs sheet for the speakers) is the best method to choosing the right speakers to suit your amps and head unit/deck.
A head unit at 50 watts per channel usually equates to about 20-25 watts rms, most brand name amplifiers will give you 50-60 watts rms per channel in entry level form (unless its a mono/ single channel amplifier which are designed for running subs only).
Most manufacturers of head units and amplifiers have RCA input/outputs, RCAs are the cable which send the music to the amp and the amp processes this and tells the speakers/subs when to activate. (I dont want to go to in depth with this, you'll end up confused.)
The head unit will have the rca output side, so its the one sending the music signal while the amp has the input side, hence it receives the music signal. From the amp you will run normal speaker cable to the speakers/sub.
You will also need to buy an amplifier wiring kit, these USUALLY can be bought to suit what kind of amp you have, say a 2 channel amp or 4 channel amp.
If you are running more than one amp you usually want to buy a larger power cabling kit as 2 amps will suck a lot of power and if your cable is not large enough to carry the power your amps will under perform and potentially wreck your speakers or amps as they try to work harder than they can possibly deliver on short supply.
NEVER jump one power supply from an amp to another as this will cause the amp at the end of the line to not receive its required power load efficiently.
If you get the dreaded alternator whine/bad signal it usually means your amps are not earthed correctly, all amps must have a decent earth cable and be earthed out against the body of the car.
DIN or Double DIN is a generic sizing of a head unit, DIN was brought in as a mandatory sizing for car manufacturers to abide by when fitting cars with stereos. If you search DIN on wikipedia you will find the proper sizes of a DIN unit or Double DIN unit. These sizes do not include depth of the head units unfortunately.
Just a heads up too, if your running your power on one side and rca's on the other, it can be very hard and time consuming on a soarer. I have done this only due to the thickness of the wire I ran for the power.
The passenger side has the hardest area to get a power supply through, once you've got the carpet out of the way you've still got the underliner mat and also the steel plating to remove then the task of dragging the power cable through the firewall, once done though its a breeze from there on.
I've typed enough for now haha, feel free to ask for more info.

Wow heaps of info thanks guys. Nathan are you saying its best to run the cables down the drivers side? The person who owned the soarer before me ran them straight under the centre console but stuff that it was a head fck to pull it out just to paint it black.
