Hi Guys,
I've been contacting Vlad and trying my best to figure out how to get the TV working in my 97 model UZZ31. His conversion kit only works on earlier models.
His reply to me was:
"The older model has the TV tuner outside the EMV and it can be used to feed back other video sources. I think in your car the TV tuner is part of the EMV. The older Soarer also had an option for external AV jack (with mono audio). May be (check on the forums) your model also has this option."
Any chance someone knows the answer to that or a way I could get this thing working? Most TV questions/documents don't specify which models they are talking about so I want to be sure before I go taking the car apart.

Hi Hays,
underneath the cupholder in the centre console is a plug which enables you to connect many different AV devices.
So far I have plugged in a sat nav system and just recently an mp3 player.
Dave Rose has made several excellent posts outlining digital tv/radio using this plug and has posted a colour photo outlining all you need to know about doing it.
Your 97 should have this plug (it took me about 5 minutes to find it the first time as it was hard to reach).
I suggest you do a search using Dave Rose as part of the subject and you should find several posts from dave setting it all out for!

Peter
the sat nav system is a stand alone sysytem that was sold by a Perth Company Neltronics under the brand..NESA. By stand alone I mean it has no screen and I used the plug Dave Rose has pictured for input to the soarer emv. It is a NESA model NAV12 and here in NSW was sold by by Autobarn. When first on sale it was around $1200 and it sat in my local autobarn store for almost a year. Just before Xmas it was marked down to around $900 or therabouts and in the new year sale was marked down to $150 or $125 and was purchased. It uses a stand alone speaker, processing unit with a sd card containing the map data and the usual antennae and power wiring. I have not seen them at other stores.
cheers
Steve

Hey Dave, sorry for bringing this thread back to life but I've only just got around to playing with this
I've sliced into the plug and I'm absolutely sure I've got the wired hooked up properly to some female RCA (AV) plugs.
When I connect an MP3 player to audio left and right, the sound works beautifully.
However when I plugged a DVD player in, the picture was there but flying upwards like an old tv with bad static. And no sound was coming out of it. I know the DVD player works so is this a problem with my emv?

yes i think so... can't believe i missed that
Theres just so many threads with people putting in DVD players and GPS units and no one's mentioned having to get a PAL/NTSC converter. I've only seen that mentioned when someones tried to get the tv signal working so it completely slipped my mind :S
Anyone have any knowledge on a good reliable converter? Thanks

Hays, most in car DVD players are PAL and NTSC outputs have a look in the DVD menu, these converters will not convert a TV signal, we all tried them in the old days when we had analog NTSC TV in our Soarers, but not sure if they could convert a video signal
