Hi, i've had an issue where the speakers have been so quiet that i've had to turn the volume close to maximum to get decent sound, there is also a high pitched whine that becomes louder when accelerating, seems identical to this

Evan I don't think that's the issue, but still we need to find out some more details about this. Is it because the speakers are the problem or any other speaker would give the same result too?

if it helps, my EMV has not functioned since I've owned it, when I bought the car I was told it was just the backlight that had failed and I haven't gotten around to getting it checked out. Not sure if this would make any difference but CDs play at a higher volume than radio by far although the whine is also louder

is there a way to test if its the alternator without just getting a new one put in? I've also noticed that with the engine off and music playing there is no whine at all, it only starts with the engine turned on.
