As the title suggests I recently just tried to install an after market head unit using a harness I bought from super cheap plugged it all in and it married up nicely except for this blue plug which I thought was safe to leave out since it only displays information to the screen(not 100% on that) iv got a little picture of the harness, the unit powers up and seems to try and play something however I get no sound from the speakers. One more thing which may sound stupid but the blue amp wire that's there wasn't connected when I tried to test it is that necessary for whole thing to work? http://imgur.com/VzbLWIv http://imgur.com/FHETLjF

The blue plug is redundant once you remove the old head unit, as is the radio switch on the side of the centre console. The blue plug allowed the console radio switch to turn the old head unit on and controlled the volume.

So would the lack of sound just be the speaker wires not matching up?
Edit: I just found this little diagram http://www.installdr.com/harnesses/toyota-wiring.pdf If that diagram is accurate it seems that would explain the lack of audio.
Edit 2:After looking at many many diagrams I cant seem to figure out what the heck is going on anymore , so many wires seem to be the wrong color so i took a few pictures. Really need some wiring god to prey to to show me the right diagram to follow just so I just re pin my harness I bought. Otherwise I might have to resort to following each speaker wire on its own to cut and make up my own harness (I took a picture of the blue one even though I don't need it just in case)

The wiring will depend on if you had an EMV or not. And what year your car was made. The wiring changed in 1994. I have the wiring for both 1994 EMV and non EMV. What year is your soarer?
Edit: Could It be as simple as that blue wire from the harness needing to turn the stock amp on like in custom setups? If so where is that wire meant to be located on the plugs I have?

Hi Ayden,
As there are two amps (one for speakers and the other for sub) you'll need to figure out which wires are the amp remote (power) wires and splice them in to your new harness' ACC, this will allow the HU to turn the amps on and power the speakers/Sub.
If your head unit has an internal amp with RCA or speaker L+R out you could always run new cable into the boot and bypass the OEM amp altogether.
