I have looked through the ICE forum and also tried to search Reepa's website (but there isn't anything there yet), for an installation guide to hooking up an FM Expander. I will be driving my "new" Soarer on Wednesday and it is the tape (non-CD) one with no FM Expander (so not picking up our channels). Where do I install it, how do I do etc. etc.?
Is there a picture guide available (I'm sure there is). Help or a point in the right direction would be awesome. Cheers.

Its pretty straight forward - just remove the head unit (plenty of guides around for this), take out the aerial, plug that into the expander, plug the expander back into the aerial socket, then have a probe around with a multimeter to find a suitable power source and hook it up. Most Soarer head units have two aerial jacks, a small one and a standard sized one. Some people say you need an expander for both, but personally I believe the smaller one is just for the AM receiver, so not required. I certainly have no problems with just the single i have in mine.

Depends on your car - it was quite tough to find one that worked in the proper key position on the UZZ30, so in the end I located the main power for the head unit and just piggy backed it off that. The JZZ31 was dead simple as it had loads of unused power wires that were live when the key was in the first position. Like I said, grab your multimeter, and test each wire in the off/first position/ignition position to see what it shows.

Nikola, can you get to Jaycar in Northbridge at all? That's where I got mine and it works perfectly fine. Costs $45 to get one. 10 minute install (cause I was taking my time to make sure I lost no bolts).
Found the wire behind the actual Head unit. The "grey" wire is the accessory wire after looking at the wiring diagram and checking with my multimeter. Works a treat now and I can finally listen to FM. Although, I will most likely be removing this HU and buying something aftermarket.

Thanks Will. Ill get one from there but i don't think the installation will be that easy. I have the Screen in mine with everything attached to it so i might have to take the back seat out

Nickola, I'm in Auckland and have 2 Repco's within 5 minutes of home, and 1 within 5 minutes of work...
Will, mine was $19.95. 10 minute install is pretty quick! Mind you the first one I did I had to work it out myself (as didn't think to check the internet) and the second one I did was on a diving holiday with very limited tools (it was raining and blowing so I had nothing else to do)

You know it's kinda funny now that I think about that. That was like almost 3 years ago. No wonder it took me next to no time to prise my dash apart, install it and put it back together again without breaking a sweat
That's just funny. Wow those pictures were from my V8 with a CD player. Interesting the way the back of the dash looks different from a 91 V8 (UZZ30) to a 92 TT (GT-TL).
Thanks for finding that one Peter. Gonna definately have to reset the way I'm doing my searches. Mind you in that working diagram, I was attaching the power wire to something else. In the TT with just the cassette player, I connected it to the grey wire of the loom.
