hey no pushing in! lol just kidding, im only really interested in the thin client itself and i guess the monitor too, so if you were interested in splitting the system up or something. Not too sure but yeah upload some pics or maybe i could come see it sometime. =). Ordered my monitor today so hopefully it comes soon.

hmm ok next question would be, when could i see this setup and how quickly were you wanting to get rid of it? Funds are a bit low at the moment sadly, insuring and fixing up soarer, repairing old car to sell it. It is funny how much you will repair an old car inorder to sell it though
Yeah I won't cut in either since it seems like it will be taken but out of interest... Where do you get that "Media Car" software from? Can it be a touchscreen? How much does the GPS software/hardware cost? How quickly does it boot up? How do you enter the addresses (ie is there an on-screen keyboard?) This system looks pretty good actually!

hmm just out of curiosity, is anyone interested in just the screen? if so more than welcome to buy the screen. I am only interested in the thin client PC. the screen is just a bonus i guess. If it helps me get the thin client quicker

Actually I thought you wanted the screen as per your first post and I wanted the PC. was hoping to do a deal with Richard to split the system between us.
I had actually sent Richard a PM before you expressed interest, guess it didn't reach him.

No, I actually was just curious as to where and if I could source a screen like my first post from. I was originally going to build a dedicated car computer once I had the screen, but since this deal has come up, it looks like a much better plan. In the end I ordered the screen from the website and it arrived yesterday. Cost me roughly $550 including delivery for the LCD screen.

Come on you lot someone has to work.....
ok questions everywhere so i will start...
Kim I am free weekends....i suggest at my mates car audio shop in Rivervale as i frequent there from time to time.
Alfred the thin client is a HP T5700, a 1 ghz embedded processor, 256mb SO-DIMM, on board audio with speaker, on board video, 4 x USB 1.0,2 x com ports.
As delivered to me it has a 256mb flashdisk with Windows XPe installed. Only about 40-50mb is left spare on the flashdisk so I installed a 2.5" 40GB laptop hard disk.
The software is all free. MediaCar is not supported anymore but thats a pity it showed promise. I dont use Mediacar primarily so that isn't important. Lots of frontends available from mp3car.com website.
GPS is freedrive based on Destinator SDK. Good solid navi this let down a bit my the occasional mapping error.
Both programs are designed for touchscreens (which mine is). I bought the USB GPS receiver from Ebay. Made by Globalsat the model number is BU-303.
Addresses are added by touchscreen and OSK in the program. You have a choice to navigate to a favourite, your history or direct entry.
Boot time is a bit average but up there for equivalent 1.0ghz machines. Running a full version of MCE 2005 won't help the cause.
I had bluetooth hands free running perfectly as well with a USB dongle, but since now i have got a dedicated bluetooth HF i have removed it.
If i split them the price will go up......so organise between yourselves and save some cash....!!!
