| Well almost. Just wanted to show that my unit has arrived from Hong Kong. I have done the wiring tonight, and will be doing the install tomorrow sometime. Apologies for image quality, camera isn't being a friend tonight, and had to adjust best I could in photoshop (without going into full editing - I'm tired okay ) Anyway, this is the unit as it is at the moment. Don't worry about the screen as that's just the protective film on it to stop the screen scratching. That will be pulled off when done.
This is my wonderful wiring harness. All I have to do is plug it into the existing Soarer harness. No cutting of wires for me.
This is the TV antennae. You will note the blow up section of the picture (again tired + photoshop = not a great idea), has 2 sort of prongs. I suspect these prongs to be for power and ground (is that correct)??? Nothing on the actual manual to indicate what to hook them up to. The jack simply goes into the stereo, but not sure about these prong things. If it makes it any easier the whole thing is called the "Car Diversity Antenna".
Stay tuned as this should be installed by tomorrow afternoon (fingers crossed). |

| One more picture, of the rear of the deck with all the relevant attachments. Can anyone tell me what that big black plug I'm holding is for? The TV jack goes into a seperate plug that is not shown on this picture

My money would be on a stacker input |

| Alfred, initial impressions for the unit are good at the moment. Really excited to get this thing in the car. I'll have it done by the end of the day (I have to work first though). Darryn supposedly the stacker input goes into the cables marked CCD? If this is a S-Video cable what else can I plug into this thing? Does anybody have any idea how the Car Diversity Antenna plugs in (i.e. those 2 little prongs)? |

| I think it's the stacker as well, CCD in, is likely to be the reverse camera line. |

| Okay just read through the manual, CDC is for the changer (but it also lists it as the AUX IN/CDC Video Input) CCD is for the reverse camera (which makes sense as it also says on the manual Backsight CCD Video input) So from this can I then figure that the plug is actually the jack for the changer and that I can use CDC as another input for something else? |

| So theoretically I could hook up a Playstation, or an XBOX. What about a third party GPS unit (i.e. possibly running through a Thinclient of some sort). On another note, just removed the old HU from the car. There is of course a 0.5 din gap between the old and the new, so will have to fill that up with something as soon as I can. Install should be done within the next few hours. |

Okay here is the size difference (just because I have never actually seen them compared before). Height Difference
Width Difference
Just a quick question what was the blue plug at the back of my old HU (it plugs in at the bottom of the unit). |

| Am I correct is assuming that these wires as they are, are correct (i.e. positive & negative cable)? This is for the car diversity antennae and am not sure if these are the power wires or not, given that it has a jack point on the HU itself.

| Has anybody got anything for this question as yet? I'd like the answer before I go ahead and finish the install. The HU is in the car, just not in the cradle as yet, as I would really like to know where these plug in first before I close everything up. |

| Don't take my word for it, but if I had to guess, the spade would be - and the female would be +. Why don't you try it with out power to these leads first? |

| Okay I got the unit to actually look for radio stations and it did find them. Of course the clarity on them is not great, and I am getting no sound. So I assume it's because the antenna are not connected (i.e. powered), as it makes no difference unplugging and replugging the jack. |

| Anything from me would be a guess, sorry mate. Mark should be along some time and hopefully he'll be able to help you, if you can't figure it out before then. Sounds like you're getting there though. |

| Okay I took a risk () and plugged the one I thought was the positive wire into the lead for the electric aerial, and plugged the other one into the negative. I did this because the electric aerial also has a fuse on it, so if something went wrong this would blow first, so............"Houston we have lift off". So it is a power wire then, and subsequently the half-crescent one is the negative. Still no sound from reception, but the picture is so much clearer. Not I just have to mount it right. Hmmmm, looks like the back seat might be coming out soon. |

| I have managed to install the Headunit with one minor problem left. The actual surround itself does not allow it to fit within the console itself. If I remove the black surround, it looks fine, but leaves a hole between it and the AC panel. Any suggestions on how to get this part covered? Pics soon (once I get the interior back together). |

| Sounds like you are doing good with the install. How is the sound from CDs and how is the DVD playback? Any luck with the audio of the radio and TV yet? |

| Post a pic of what it looks like without the surround and then we will be able to get an idea of what needs to be done, so that we can make suggestions. |

| So far have found out * That the actual thing will play MP3's off a DVD disc. Therefore I can fit a very, very large quantity of music on 1 disc and not have to worry about carrying them around. * One problem is that I can get the picture for TV no dramas (I think I have almost all the free to air channels) - but damned if I can get sound. Pity - might I need a booster?? * DVD Quality is actually really, really good. Camera doesn't capture is fully unfortunately. |
