The sides look fine, and for the top and bottom gap, some sign plastic should do the trick.

That is not touch screen is it?

No it's not unfortunately. Touch screen would probably have cost a heck more than I got the deck for. Looking at the sides, I will more than likely try and work out a way for it to sit back further. When I installed it, it hooked up to the "DIN Cage" via the existing holes (just), so I could probably find some bendable metal and see if can rig up something that holds it back a lot more than it currently sits. That way it would be flush with the actual console.

What do you mean "sign plastic". What is this? How much does it cost, etc. etc.

Sign plastic is the plastic sheets that sign board makers use to make signs! You should be able to get scraps from most sign shops.

Elongate the holes in the cage and then you can slide it back and forth when adjusting it flush to the dash.

Yeah I will do that, thanks Alfred. I also figured that the sheets were those sheets

An EUREKA!!! I found out the reason why the audio for my TV wasn't working. It was actually the audio settings that weren't set right. There was something like 5 audio settings (about 4 PAL ones, and 1 NTSC one). I changed to PAL-BG and voila I have full TV now. Awesome!!!!

I thought I missed my opportunity as well, but I found the same unit being advertised in the US (it had Aus prices next to it). Bought it this way, as it works out to the same price. So glad I bought it now.

Unfortunately no, but I am planning to add a sub and amp at some point. According to the manual, a Sanyo () CD changer can be hooked up to it. However if I can play a DVD's worth of MP3's, I don't think that a stacker is gonna be useful at all. Saved myself money there

Update

I got annoyed (yes it took me an hour or so), but I took the unit out again, and adjusted it's mounting points. It looks SO much better now., it just looks so flush and like it was meant to be there. Here's a couple of pics.

Thanks Jose-Antonio.

I have just had my first drive at night with this unit, and my word is it bright. Of course, silly me forgot to wire up the Dimmer switch. From the Toyota wiring diagram, it would appear to be that little green/white wire that was connected to the rear speaker wires (i.e. the smaller plug. My harness though has it in a different spot, the green wire with the bigger plug (i.e. where the front speakers, electric aerial, 12V switched and constant, earth etc.).

Is the green/white one on the small plug definately the dimmer wire?

Green/orange is the parkers wire.

If you can figure out the wiring a Soarer non-EMV stacker WILL connect to the CD input....they are standard interface.

Excuse my ignorance Mark, Parkers Wire? What is this?

What of the green/white wire on the smaller plug that I think is the dimmer wire on the original loom from the Soarer?

Will, in regard to your TV reception I got some portable DVD/TVs for the kids from HongKong a couple of months ago and there was about 6 different TV Systems and at least 2 PAL types one that I only got a picture on and the other that I got both picture and sound. See if you can toggle through a TV set up menu it might be there.

Will did you manage to hook it up so that the unit will turn on and off with the original stereo knob? Doubt you will be able to hook up the volume, but the on/off should be doable.

Don't know Alfred, I didn't actually try that at all. It's hooked to the existing wiring so have no idea whether this will work or not. I'll try it in about an hour, when I go pay for parking.

Any ideas regarding the dimmer wire?

Yeah it actually has a "Dimmer" wire as part of it's options. I'll try the wire that the wiring diagram suggests (the green/white one) and see what happens. I'll only be able to do it this afternoon.

Fingers crossed , I might wire a fuse in path just in case.

Actually I was thinking along the lines of taking the on/off wire from the original knob and connecting it to the Acc power in, to the unit. then leave the unit on and power it up from the original knob.

Won't get the volume, but at least the knob won't become a useless item on the dash!

Looks good Will, i've got a similar set up on mine. the sign plastic i had filling in the gap underneath kept falling off though. i was hoping to get a .5 din pocket to fill the gap. just doing some reading on it and apparently they are readily available from Mazda or Autobarn. i'll try and get it tomorrow and let you know if it fits.

Does Mazda do a 0.5 DIN pocket? I thought they only did a 1.5 DIN pocket. Oh well. I was gonna suggest a DIY solution such as what I got

Upload

this is a piece of wood, wrapped around in a very similar material to what the dash looks like, with two metal brackets in the back screwed onto the cage (the cage that holds the a/c and stereo) looks very much standard. But if you can get a 0.5 DIN maybe will be better. But then again you can't really fit much stuff in that anyway.
