AIght i know pretty much nothing about installing a sub but i do want to get a sub for my soarer. I have the 10inch sub in the pocket thing that most soarers come with but i wanted to replace it with something more powerful. Everyone seems to be saying this jaycar one is good so i'l probably put that in. Was wondering how much it would cost to get it installed by a professional as even though i would like to do it myself i know i'l probably muck it up. Also i'm assuming i need an amp to and was wondering where i would need to put that?

If you are talking about one of those carbon fibre 10" subs from jaycar, I am also interested in one of those. Maybe if there was enough interest a group buy could be organised?

Nilhan, if you already have the factory sub then you should have the factory amplifier as well. I too have been looking at the Jaycar subs, but from what others have said on the forum the factory sub is only going to give so much power. So if you're after something more powerful, the Jaycar sub would be fine (to maintain the factory fitting and stuff) but you would also need to upgrade the amp if it doesn't match your requirements.
Replacing the sub wouldn't be that difficult I wouldn't think. Really just remove the back seats of the car and replace the sub with the Jaycar one.
There's a lot of stuff on the actual forum, use Search for further info as well.

you may run into mounting depth issues. Also you may want to look into getting a "free air" sub. This means they are designed to be mounted in a parcel shelf ect, and not in a box. With a free air sub your whole boot acts a a box.

The Jaycar 10" sub is perfect for parcel shelf use. It will require a bit of modifying to get it in. There are at least two threads with pics and mounting info around here somewhere. The jaycar 2 x150W amp is a perfect match to drive it with. Both are available on ebay at considerably less than retail prices. I have this setup for both my cars.

Hey if your looking at keeping it in the parcel shelf then Jaycar is a good substitute. The standard amp will not power it well at all. Choose an appropriate amp from the info you get here. But if you want serious base, then 2x10 Inch subs + some creative parcel shelf cutting, or some serious sub installments in the boot.

Good price Mark. Can you read the model number? That will tell us if it is intended for boxed use or not. Sometimes the Pioneer actually have the boxing recommendations printed on the label.

I have the mounting bracket for a factory sub out of the car at present so if you bring it at Easter we can see how hard it will be to fit in. The spare box type Pioneer sub that I have fits a lot easier than the Jaycar one but it isn't suitable for parcel shelf use.
