Hey all,
I've been unable to find a tutorial on wiring aftermarket amps (in the boot) in a Soarer. I found a link to one on Reepa.com but it's like a dead link or something :s
Does anyone have a tute, or some tips on running 8 gauge power cable + RCAs to the boot?
I've installed ICE in older cars before but don't want to mess up my interior too much in the Soarer so I'd love some tips for where to route the wires...
Mate, dead easy. There's a hole in the fire wall near the acceleration pedal (I think) you'll see from inside the engine bay. Run the wires on the side of the door sills, pull that plastic part off, fold the carpet a little bit, run it to the back seats, take the seats out (pull the bottom part up, unscrew the back part 3 screws on the bottom, push the thing up to come off the plastic clips, and the seat comes off). The metal wall thing behind the seats has tweo holes on both sides. Put the cables through one of the holes and you're done. Dead easy.
P.S. Sorry but sometimes I'm a lazy typer

Oh ok, thanks guys.
I knew I had to remove the seats to change the speakers in the parcel shelf, and I planned to do that at the same time, so maybe I'll go grab the amp, sub, cable and speakers and do it all at once
Problem is, I can't decide whether to spend my money on upgraded brakes or ICE

I'd go ICE as you already have the TT so the brakes are bigger to start with but if you do decide to do your break upgrade keep me in mind and I'll take you brake set up off you ;)
What are you doing with your ICE?? I have some pictures on here of mine I don't know where though haha.
I got the 1.5 din pocket pioneer dvd player pioneer 6inch splits in the doors pioneer 6inch in the rear pioneer 2 x 12inch subs in the boot (NO LAG...) pioneer 1000watt monoblock pioneer 4x300watt running components.
And to be honest I'm more than happy with mine it's very nicely balancesd and would have cost me no more than 3grand in total and the screen also covers the blacking out aircon display :D
When I get my computer back I'll post up some pictures of the incar and boot for you.

Oh watch where you put the fuse in the inline on the wiring kit as the guys who ran my wire put it pretty close to the engine and the heat cracks the plastic when I get around to it I'm going to run all new amp wires and speaker wires (When I get around to it)

Fuse location can also be defectable! In SA you have to have a fuse on a hotline within 250mm of the battery. I know this sounds a bit pedantic, but a mate of mine has been done for this

250mm eh That's the first time I've ever heard of a car being defected due to fuse placement. As a general rule the fuse for your power cable should be within 18 inches from the battery terminal. Do any other states have the same legislation as SA?
By the way Jero run your power and RCA cables along a different route to your vehicles existing wiring where ever possible to minimise induced noise like alternator whine etc.

Not much. Just a sub (I only want small bass as I 'bass'd' my head off as a teenager with insane subs and amps and am now too soft to handle it!) maybe a single 10" or the two 8" carbon fiber Response ones that I have sitting at home.
I'll likely leave the front speakers as is for now because I'm too lazy to pull the trim off the doors!
Rear speakers will likely get replaced by some Response kevlar 6.5"s.
And just a Response 4x100 will drive all that enough for my ears
Cheers for all the advice people,
Jero.
Oh, P.S. I already have an after market CD player and a neat little half DIN woodgrain EQ to fill the gap

Your probably better off putting a 10 in the parcel tray as the single 10 in the boot has alot of work to do to get through a fuel tank and a back seat for it to have any benefit.
I have the pioneer free to air 10inch sub at home I paid 140 bucks for it if you want it make me an offer
The 10 in the parcel shelf sounds quite good actually I haven't had this one installed as my mate broke the sub ring under the rear light thought it was glued on.... But Josh Rafton has a similar one in his parcel shelf and it just finishes it off with a nice subtle background bass.

Depends on how picky they want to be. The car in question was the first time I've ever heard of it too, although I've had installation guys telling me this for years now. Like most mods, it depends on the cop/engineer that looks at your car on the day, and what mood they're in
