I've heard them too and they do seem to be good stuff. Whether they are worth the usual high asking price is another question. Some of the best subs I've heard are; the Boston Pro series JBL (old stuff; probably not available anymore) Infinity...not all but most are good. Kicker Solo Baric...wierd square things but they do produce good sound Sony...don't know which; there are a few and most are not real good but a couple are Even a Pioneer...again there are lots but not that many good ones. And, of course, the Jaycar 10" In no particular order either except that the two best I have ever heard are a KEF B139 in a transmission line (NO way to fit that in a Soarer!!!) and the very best of the lot, by a long way, was a Philips 8" motional feedback woofer in a quasi-transmission line (bloody thing would, and does, sound good in a shoe box with the motional feedback working.....Philips actually produced a commercial model using a special 7" woofer in order to fit it in a box the exact same dimensions as a standard shoe box; just to prove a point; and they certainly did that).
Fortunately for me I just happen to have two of these very rare and hard to find beasts....and two Soarers to put 'em in

I've heard some Infinty speakers over the years, and most of them sounded extremely nice. Are they worth the money, I'm not sure.
But it's like anything really, if someone installs them with a half baked attitude, then you'll get a half baked result.
I was never a fan of things like Jaycar subs and the like, mainly because I couldn't see something so cheap performing well in a mobile environment. After installing some Jaycar subs I have to say they are well worth their weight in gold, and then some. I'd have a set if I didn't like my Hertz sub so much!!!
Have a listen to a few more speakers and see if they stand up to how the Infinitys have impressed you. Some of the nicest I've heard are Focal, Soundstream, Cerwin Vega & of course Hertz.

Hertz make great subs and some excellent speakers. Infinity have been around for a long time and have had some great products but with subs the install and position are crucial to getting good bass performance. The other brands that rate highly on my list are Oz Audio and Image Dynamics.

Infinity have been the beez neez in home stereo (without spending MAJOR $$$) for a while, so if their car audio sounds anywhere near as good as their home lines, then it is definately worth the money.

Got close to 800RMS from my Audison into my Hertz sub currently in the Skyline.
Same equipment will be transferred to the Soarer.
Obviously cant run it for extended periods of time at that level, but it's there for when hero's in commonwhores and falcons() pull up next to me and need to be put in their place.
It's one thing to have bass, it's another to have bass that sounds like a mating gecko!

I'm completely happy with the Audison amps. In my Skyline (soon to be in Soarer) I have the LRx mono block and the LRx 5 channel. The sub is a HX 300D. I've run this equipment for around 3 years now. I've gone through ALOT of amps and subs over the last 12 years and I reckon I'll be happy with these for a while longer. Now I have to replace my Focal speakers with some Morels and I'll be totally content I've also got a VRx 4 and a VRx 1 in shadow chrome in the cupboard, but they wont be coming out of the boxes for a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time.
Half your luck Sean, that's some nice kit. I am looking at both Audison and Hertz for my car. I have just sold my precision power amps and Dynaudio splits to help fund the Soarer install. Was a shame to let the Dyn's go but they are a pig to drive, they are so power hungry its not funny.

Yeah, Dyns are a nice unit. Personally I think you cant go wrong with Audison gear. It's affordable(most of the time), and the performance and build quality is second to none. It's the kind of equipment you can take from car to car for years on end.
The new Audison LRx series look awesome and are very well priced for what they offer. A mate is getting one shortly so I will be able to hear it first hand once we have installed it.
