Got a small (I hope) irk with me stereo.

Sound only comes through the left side speakers until I crank the volume for a quick blast and then all speakers work including the sub. Once I blast out the cobwebs I can drop the volume down and it works fine until I turn the system off again. Anyone come across this before?

Also, while I have your attention: I've just installed a hands-free car kit for my cell phone (trying to be a responsible driver here). There is a single wire from the car kit control box labeled 'Sound Mute', and the instructions say something along the lines of 'plug this wire into the stereo for auto sound mute' followed by a diagram of the wire and a large arrow pointing to a stereo....really helpful. Would anyone know where this wire could be inserted (tastefully please) to auto-mute the standard CD/Tape deck (non-tv screen model).

Cheers in advance

Faulty volume control/head unit. Probably leaky caps somewhere...
I have head units that I can swap.
There is a mute wire to the amplifiers. One for main 4 chann amp and one for sub. I'll look up where it hangs out in the TTs for you.
There may be a connector for factory 'phone in LHS boot area which will have speaker (left front) wires and mute wire as well as 12V and stuff.
