Just wondering what we should use for the AT fluid..

I know there is write-ups galore about the V8 using type 4 and some TT's as well (with some being OK for Dexron), but I havent been able to find anything about the JZZ31 tranny..

So if I am planning to do an AT fluid change, what should I use?

JZZ3x's aren't fussy like UZZ3x's - any good quality Dexron III or higher will do.

Depends on which JZZ31 you have. Our '95 had Dexron II stamped on the dipstick (now Dex III, of course) while the '97 has Toyota IV. They are different gearboxes, so require different fluids. Go with the owner's manual or the dipstick.

Hmmm how do your gearboxes differ in the 95 and 97 models Mike?

The '97 is "intelligent" which I assume means adaptive. Don't know what the model numbers are though. I believe our gearbox was used in the Lexus GS300 right up to the end of the model run (2005) although could be wrong, they might have changed to 5-speed.
