I bought my '96 two years ago at 85,000 km.

Since then I've done 50,000 km, and today I've finally hit my first problem - the v belt tensioner bearing is on its way out, so I'll replace it next week.

In 50,000km I've done the following service wise:

7 oil & filter changes
3 air filter changes
1 Timing belt replacement
1 V belt replacement
1 new set of Iridium spark plugs
1 new distributor cap
1 new distributor rotor
2 transmission services
2 brake fluid flushes
1 coolant flush
4 tyres

I think thats it. I guess technically the v belt bearing is a service part too, and it hasn't caused a break down.

You can keep your speakers no problem - amp I'm not too sure on - it doesnt use normal RCA connectors so you'd have to have a good idea what you were doing to wire it up I guess.

hey guys, just tried to book my jzz31 into Toyota in gympie (i no but its the closest one) for its 120k service, and the service guy is trying to tell me that they have a policy that they don't service import cars...WTF. anyway he said he would be able to do an oil and filter change (which i could do at home) it couldn't be that hard to find the parts needed to do the service, considering its Toyota.

that's enough of my rambling.

cheers

Even more so considering how many other cars the motor is used in.

Find another dealer- if not, ask around for a competent mechanic.

What's required at 120k? The timing belt should have been done at 100k. I had the mechanic on Norfolk Island do most of the required stuff prior to leaving (including water pump- not that it really needed one) while diff etc oils I did myself. The only fluid I didn't change was the auto trans, for which I need to get to a trans specialist (and again, there isn't one locally).

Our car is approaching 170k, by the way.

As well as the Lexus GS300, locally, and a swag of other cars not sold here, new.
