Hey guys,

I have a 5 speed and therefore .. no TRC and was wondering does anyone else experience really bad wheel slips when it rains? Such as accelerating when making a right or left turn (corners as well) and you feel the back end swing out? I'm wondering if its my tires but I only got those last year or if its something Soarers has problems with. Will getting an LSD do anything?

Last year, means the tyres could be up to 2 years old. Have you checked how worn they are?

Even with new tyres, there are noticeable differences in how they handle the wet. I am much more cautious on my current tyres than I have been on previous sets for that reason.

If your back end is swinging out now, an LSD probably won't help a lot. At least with an open diff, one of the rear wheels still has sideways traction when the other is spinning. With an LSD, if you poke it a bit, then both rear wheels spin = instant pirouette.

Also some tires aren't as good as others in the wet.

Other things to consider are excess movement in suspension components like the rear roll bar - this can have a big impact on traction in the wet when cornering.

Sound to me like a case of RWD and letting off the clutch too soon in the rain! lol

I couldn't get traction on wot for ages the other day....then i took my foot off the brake ;)
An LSD would help a little until you actually lost traction at which point it would get even more sideways than now. Maybe a wider tyre? with nice open tread pattern to disperse the water.
