Ive taken the intake plenum off my motor (Between the 6 Runners to the head and the Y join from the TB) to get some measurements of a few things.

While having it off I noticed that in the intake chamber, between 3 of the cylinder runners and the other 3, theres a vacuum butterfly valve....

Wondering what the purpose of this is? What would happen if it was not there or working?

My guess its possibly to do with fuel economy at lower speeds and to change the torque depending on if the throttles high or low?

Cheers Guys, Ill get pictures if required!

TVIS maybe?

I have a spare 2JZ-GTE intake manifold if you're interested :-)

Yeah I was thinking it could be a basic form of T-VIS.

Haha nah no need for one of those right now.

I thought it was what passes for "traction control" on the JZZ31 when I spotted it. Just a guess though.

I'v read on a supra forum that when you hit about 4500rpm in opens up and thats what gives you that power band from there up to 7000rpm or so.
If you have ever driven a 2jzge this is very noticeable.
