I've got my stock JZZ31, i just got off my P's, and was wondering if would be worth chucking a single turbo on? Does anyone know of it being done? How effective is it? And what else has to be done?

It is worthwhile but not super cheap. Otomoto actually sell a turbo kit for your engine ( http://www.otomoto.com.au/kkr/turbos/jza80kit.html ) Even the NA 2JZ is really strong so should go well. Im not too clued up on this conversion but maybe a set of supra turbos/piping/injectors etc could be a cheap(er) option? Iv seen a turbo conversion done on an alteza with 2JZ-GE but the engine had forged internals and was pretty savage (750+HP!!!)

Like the lads have said, more effective to buy a new engine and fit it.
Otomoto turbo kit: $6000.00 (for the power figures they talk about on that site anyway).
Aristo cut with 2jgte: $3000.00
Labor-wise it can be done on your own, depending on how professional you are. Half cut comes with everything you need to get the engine up and running, and the Aristo ecu doesn't need tuning, so that can go straight in place of the Soarer ecu and probably save $600 in tuning costs.
Otherwise labor costs are around $3000.00- $4000.00 as well (there are a few components you will definitely want to upgrade)
But all in all, it's more worthwhile to do the gte conversion. Much more potential.

well going from a Na supra to TT supra engine, gearbox, brakes, electrics, complete new wiring harness because they are not inter changeable etc. to pass blue slip cost 10,000 without labour

That's a Supra. The getrag 6 speed box still commands a second hand price tag of about $5000.00, that's where the bulk of that "quote" comes in. An RZ Supra halfcut goes for about $8000.00 with the 6 speed. So yeah, it will be pricey if you try just go for Supra parts (and lets not forget that the Aristo has better turbos on it anyway).
Aristo halfcut comes with the lot that is completely inter- changeable Gearbox, ECU, Brakes, Engine etc.
It is more effective going the half cut route, and you will have lots more potential. The compression of a Naturally Aspirated Soarer means it can't handle too much boost anyway.
At the end of the day though, it would be cool to see an NA- T on this forum.
