Technically, they work in the sense that there may be an increase in air flow and the total power gain in a small engine at peak RPM will probably exceed the 60 Amps (or approximately 0.75 kW) it is smashing out of your battery.

Meanwhile, for all the claims about "free-spinning impellor [sic] improving your fuel economy", it adds an obstruction (the impeller) to your intake damaging your power and fuel economy. My jaundiced view is that any observable gain when you switch it on comes removing the ESC-created drag on performance rather than adding a gain to the pre-ESC state. That is, installing an ESC will slow you down trivially and turning it on might stop that loss, at the expense of your battery and alternator life of course.

I expect that most gains experienced by customers will arise from the pod or ram intakes seen in the photographs. Notice that the vendor makes no claims and gives no references about actual power improvements (so far as I noticed).

There are threads on here already discussing these things at greater length.

To clarify one thing, the operating principle is that of a supercharger rather than a turbocharger in that it takes power from the engine (via the electrics) just like a belt-driven supercharger takes it directly from the crank. This is a power loss which must be overcome by an efficient blower capable of shoving enough air in to make a meaningful difference.

Has anyone actually measured how much air is going through our intakes at full load?

Do you think this would be legal for P platers?

Shed loads! Someone did the maths in another thread, but a 4 litre engine sucks 4 litres of air (surprise) every 2 revolutions. So if max RPM = 6400, then that's 3200 x 4 = 12,800 litres per minute.

All they actually measure with their video is wind speed, not volume or pressure which are really what counts.

Their video test is as useful as a farting competition, the loudest isn't necessarily the smelliest.

it's never going to work on your soarer, but anyone wanna bolt one on to a 125cc scooter?

that would give manifold pressure! how cool lol

alternatively a leaf blower does work :-)

Does the electrical system on your scooter pump out 60 spare Amps?

im thinking ducted fan in the airbox lid with brushless plane motor... it'd provide much more airflow than one of them crappy ebay things hahah turbo zet, remember that pc fan lol

you can get real electric turbos that do infact really work
http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0406tur_knight_turbo_electric_supercharger/index.html

but at the massive cost, a real turbo is the only thing a sane person should consider

IM going to hook the dyson up to my exhaust and suck out the power lol Negative supercharging remember that snake oil lol
