So I have a opportunity to pick up a 1JZ-GTE head for a pretty low price to make a 1.5J as I have a 2jz-gte, but for some reason the guy wants to keep the cam shafts cause he thinks there worth as much as head itself (unless they are, its the stock cam shafts).

Anyways just wondering can I use my current 2JZ-GE cam shaft in the 1JZ-GTE head?

You have a 2JZ-GTE and you want to turn it into a 1.5JZ-GTE? Why?

I have a 2JZ-GE not GTE sorry mucked it up in the first post a lil, so buying a 1JZ-HEAD and ecu (plus other bits and bobs) is instant turbo engine.

Ah. Might be cheaper/easier to go NA-T on the 2JZ-GE? There are loads of kits available from the US and they seem to be pretty much bolt on.

what do I do for ECU wise? can I use the 1jz ECU if i just do a bolt on turbo?

How much boost can I run on stock head gasket? stock CR is 10.5:1 if I remember correctly?

You need a 1J mid and lower sump, oil pump and crank angle sensor, oil pressure adaptor for the turbo, 1J MLS head gasket, water pump, longer water neck and assorted bits like 2J timing belt. Also need a 1J loom with igniter, coilpacks, map sensor, TPS and ECU. Also need 1J fuel rail, and intake manifold.

You can't use 2JZ-GE cams in a 1JZ-GTE.

There's a guide on this forum in the builds section for other necessary bits.

Compression isn't a problem for a decent turbo setup with a good tune.

Piggyback is a bonus for longevity.
Id recommend 440cc injectors from a 2JZ-GTE if you stick to the OEM ECU.
