Hi guys. Iv'e searched everywhere for a solution to this problem with no luck.

On startup when in reverse and rolling down my driving there is a weird sort of screeching noise coming from the engine bay and also could be coming from somewhere near my cats. When I put it into drive the noise continues while accelerating but stops after going past around 2000 rpm or after the car has warmed up properly.

My only solution to this is to let the car warm up which drains the petrol. I've been told it could be the heat shield or maybe from one of the belts? Anyone else had this issue and fixed it before it's really starting to annoy me.

Why not start it, let it idle, then have a listen both under the bonnet and under the car to find out where it is coming from?

It's pretty hard to diagnose when you are just sitting in the car.

It's even harder to diagnose sitting in a chair in front of a PC over the Internet.

More clues needed.

I have already, lifted it went through every gear reving and idle, we ended up refitting the heat shield which stopped it for a day then came back.

I will be lifting the car tomorrow again and will be checking the engine bay while its on the ground. It could be coming from one of the pulleys.

I'll post results tomorrow thanks peter
