Do you mean what position the rotor arm needs to be in (ie, the first in order of firing) or the distributor timing angle?
If you mean the former, then I believe the rotor arm should be towards the top left spark position when looking at the top of the distributor.
If you mean the latter - if you have taken the distributor out without first marking the angle, then you will need a timing light to get it back at the correct angle.
