Seem pretty reasonable prices, Lachie. I see the belt also comes with tensioner and seals, which is great. Not sure about the water pump. I had a genuine Toyota pump on mine, but changed it when doing the belt- the mechanic put a "no-name" pump out of NZ on it and it was noisy very quickly, replaced under warranty but I lost all my expensive Toyota red fluid. So I'd be inclined to go genuine for that part. I kept my s/h pump for that reason- it'll go back on next time belt is changed (which will be ages, it was done at 123k and about 175k).
I put Iridium plugs in my car, or rather the mechanic did, bugger of a job. Got them out of US. Apparently they're good for 100,000km. They're been in my car for over 6 years now, about 25,000kms only though.

Parts seem cheap - I'd personally recommend Toyota OEM, but I spent $500 on all the parts and fluids for my 200K service a couple of months back, going all OEM, that might not be in your budget.
Don't use copper plugs on the 2JZ-GE - use iridium, unless you have lots of free time and not a lot of money.
Here is my reasoning...
To replace the plugs you have to remove the throttle body - probably takes me over an hour to change the plugs by the time I've cleaned up and put everything away.
A full set of NGK iridium plugs is under $100 - a full set of coppers is maybe $15-$20 - but you'll replace them 4 times for every 1 set of iridiums.
So you'll save $20-$40 and lose 4 hours of your life going copper. Not worth it IMO.

Oh, and I'd go OEM on the water pump - the OEM waterpump comes as a complete unit including the rear housing, and comes with all the required seals and o-rings (mine was missing one but I think I dropped it - was easy to find a replacement)
The one shown in the picture is only the front housing - which includes the impeller of course, the important bit - but bear in mind that you do probably need to replace the seals for the rear housing anyway, as they are mostly rubber and will perish eventually.
It only cost me $125 NZ from Toyota, so you'd probably get it in Australia for $100.
Also might be worth replacing the tensioner unit itself, not just the pulley - they are sealed units so you can't really tell if they are good or not, and they aren't expensive to replace either, so might be worth it for peace of mind.
Only other thing I can think of is the thermostat valve - might be worth getting a new one.

thanks for the advice, i'm going to source a genuine toyota waterpump now. Although last time i ordered stuff from toyota they said they were no longer supporting grey imports.
is there an aussie supplier or do i have to find someone to ship from OS?
While i'm at it, i'm trying to find a tutorial on how to change the fan belt if there is one on here.

You should be able to a water pump locally easily enough - quite a few 2JZ-GE Toyota's/Lexus were sold in Australia as new I think - like the Supra and the Lexus GS300.

Ali, do you mean the supra was never sold new in Australia? I didn't know that, I just assumed that since you could order it new in New Zealand the UK the same would go for Australia. Having said that, I think bugger all were sold here new, almost all of them on the road are imports.

no interesting Toyotas at all sold in aus in the 90's. I called up Castle Hill Toyota (they're nice there) and they've got me a decent price (about 130) for the water pump - I then went to the Toyota dealer near me to see if they were able to get the same part... they could... for double the price.

Just dragged out the invoice for mine, it was $130 + GST - New Zealand dollars - not $125 as I had written further up the thread - so $120 AUD seems alright to me.
