Is there anyone in the geelong area who has a crank pulley holder?

we've been stuck trying to get the bolt on the crank pulley undone and we've tried so many options.

breaker bar, rattle run, bracing the breaker bar and turning the engine, we put the breaker bar between two bolts and got spanners on the bolt and just ended up bending the bolts we put into the crank pulley.

the bastard won't budge, and some help is greatly needed

thanks
lachie

we have tried that, and with a second battery so twice the cranking amps with the single point sockets and the bolt still wouldn't loose its hold.

might have to heat it with a torch, will destroy the damper in the process.

Hi Lachie,

When you did the long bar & starter motor trick, what was the bar stopping on & did you have the bar sitting on the chassis rail or ground etc or off the ground, because if you can have the long bar 6 inches or more off from a hard surface when you engage the starter motor it works a lot better than if the bar is already resting on the stop / hard surface, only thing is its a bit scary in that sometimes the socket & bar might fall off the bolt as it swings around but if you can jam something in between the motor, ie end of the socket / bar & the front support etc to hold the bar & socket on it should work well ..

Instead of a crank pulley holder you can jam a proper sized rod between the flexplate teeth and the chassis, you can find this rod from a manual transmission in a N13 Pulsar, it is the perfect size.

Long breaker bar is what I have always used to undo the bolt.

Hey Bud,

I have the tool if you wanna borrow it.

I am however in the western suburbs of melb, so you'd have to drive down here to get it.

I’d require a cash deposit of $100 which you’ll get back when you return it.

I used a meter long pipe on the end of a breaker bar, and impact socket and the starter motor to do mine the first time I did it (broke a normal socket). Now I've invested in a high torque impact wrench, which made it much easier last time.
