Took the Soarer down to Hamilton on Saturday so filled the stacker with my favourite CD's, but we gave up trying after about 50km.
Basically we have the old CD player skipping problem - bad. One or two of the CD's played ok but most skipped after the slighted bump. You can imagine what it was like on the Waikato highway, its like a gokart course! Even on the motorway it is bad.
Does anybody know of someone in NZ who can repair (re-align) the laser, or perhaps has a (known-good) stacker for sale?

When mine was skipping badly I took it into Kings here in Hamilton. It only cost me $50 I don't know what he did but it's been ok since. I haven't been able to play CDR's at all but with a 12 stacker who'd want to. The guy did say it wouldn't be worth it next time but I'd still give it a go. So just find yourself a place that fixes car audio gear.

Bruce prior to sending my EMV to Mark for repairs last year I made some inquiries regarding the fixing of these things and was told by Toyota that Robinsons Instruments in Auckland does their repairs so probably fix stackers as well. I did ring Robinsons and the guy I spoke to seemed to have seen a few EMV's come in but you could ring em re stacker, at phone 093771565 at 19 Sale St Auckland. Mad sounds in Hamilton did used to fix stackers but wont touch them now cause of their age, too tricky he recckons. Mine skips a bit but not much was going to send it to Mark in due course but he is off radar for moment.
