They were never imported to NZ or AU new so who knows? I seem to remember reading that a SC400 (UZZ30) was something like $50,000 USD, so that would translate to something like $100,000NZ.

Hmm any ideas what a Celsior like mine would have fetched back when it was sold new? The guy I bought it from must have had a fair amount of cash handy as he purchased it brand new!

You should be able to get a solid answer on that, as the LS400 was sold new in NZ. I'd imagine it would have cost a little more than a Soarer, being a bigger car - its hard to say though.
Don Bagnall Moderator New Zealand I have WAY less Soarers than Hayden :-(

I have the original window sticker to my SC and it was $47,645 USD and you had to be on a years waiting list for a manual tranny!! They were introduced to the US in 1992, well after yall, and were described as a luxury Supra, with NO twin turbo's EVER being an option!! LOL

The exchange rate was different then but there is no point in knowing, because import duties and other taxes differ between countries. Expensive cars in Oz are sensationally expensive because of the luxury tax quite apart from tariffs on import to protect inadequate local industries. If NZ had abandoned all of its import protections by 1992 then it might be worthwhile doing a conversion but the price there, had they sold it, would probably have been higher to support the sales/spares/maintenance infrastructure in a market where fewer would be sold per head of population than in richer places like America.
Seriously, just look at the price/postioning of an SC430 in your local market and call it a Soarer in its era. There is no more sensible guess.
