Don and others over here, re dizzy caps for V8 Soarer, tried at both Supercheap and Repco and both say they are no longer brought into NZ so looks as if I will have to source expensive Toyota ones

I thought my Toyota one was quite resonable - got the rotor and the cap for something like $60, and I think the rotor was the more expensive of the two parts. Mind you the 2JZ-GE is a bit more common than the 1UZ-FE I guess, and the OEM part for the 2JZ is Denso, not Bosch.

Well got a phone number for Bosch from directory, free dial No and discovered I was in as line of calls waiting for Robert Bosch Australia, ( Aussies taking over everything arnt they) after about ten minutes got fed up and rang Hamilton Toyota parts and spoke to me mate and he quoted $150 including gst for two caps and two rotors that was with discount he gave me so anyone know if thats reasonable. Directory didnt have a number for Bosch NZ Don.

Sounds reasonable to me - they must be fairly costly to make after all.

Yup picked em up today. Just got to get No 2 idler bearing then will have all bits I need for cambelt change. Don is it worth doing the drive belt idler pully as well.?? Assume that is different from idler 1 and 2.

Rod you need to get your stuff from the good old US of A , even including freight and exchange rate they are HEAPS cheaper .
The stuff that I get arrives in four days at a third the cost .
Also if you are doing the timing belt make sure you also replace the water pump and a new hydraulic tensioner as well .

Yeah, Rod go for the stuff Rich can get, I got my Rotors, Caps and leads through him all for an excellent price. They are all good quality, just as good as toyota's stuff, Leads have a low resistance etc and now as a result my celsior runs even smoother!

Got everything now Rich except No 2 idler including water pump and tensioner but was wondering if drive belt idler pully should also be done. Yes I know USA prices much cheaper. Am a camera enthusiast and got extras for it from USA about 60 percent cheaper landed in NZ and never had any hassles with stuff arriving. Just replaced plugs and leads with twin gap iridium plugs and champion ;leads off trade me from an outfit in Rotorua who use them on their Jap v8 race engines, exact copy of Toyota but half the price. Thats when mechanic told me that cam belt didnt look the best and should be changed so thats a grand including all the bits to go with it. Ho hum even though speedo got 85000 kms showing it wouldnt be correct as I did read somewhere that 1991 models had a fault in the dash and were changed in Japan.
