Theres a lot of parts going on Trademe at the moment. Also theres also a guy breaking a non EMV 31 on Auckland Northshore. I've been to have a look and some joy riders tried to burn it out, so leathers not good but still there. I took the climate control, otherwise its fairly complete. He's advertising on Trade and Exchange site.

Yea I was out at that guys place last night looking for the passenger door trim but it was melted in the fire aswell. :-(

I did however get the front bumper support bar and also the cage that the headlights etc bolts on as mine was slightly bent in the crash.

He has most other parts still complete there. Leather seats (Needs cleaning), Centre Console and the rest of the dash bits, full 1UZ-FE engine sitting next to the car. The tranny was also out and sitting next to the car.

Most of the panels etc are also still straight except for the right rear quarter which is pretty munched from the crash.

His front brake calipers, disks, strust etc are all sold already aswell. Don't know if he's still got the diff etc (I doubt it's a Torsen anyway but I forgot to check last night.)

I have his phone number if anyone is interested in contacting him. Thad was nice enough to get me in touch with him.:-)

The bastard that stole it (From a Yard) smashed the right rear end and then set light to it on the inside.

Luckily it's only very little cosmetic damage on the inside as I suspect the car was closed at the time of he fire so there wasn't any oxygen to feed it.

Yeah, they screwed up some newspaper, put it on the back seat, lit it, then closed the doors and ran away! the newspaper didn't even finish burning!

just as well, cos it was a nice, clean car and theres still some good bits left on it, real shame that it got stolen in the first place, but at least the idiots who took it were too dumb to get it to burn properly.

Thads, I am moving back up to the big smoke...I still have the dfa you sold me and have had problems fitting it. I even took it to an autoelectrician and they had the car running rich...ran like a whore!

I also took it to the turbo shop in dunedin and they knew stuff all about it! hmmm...I am beginning to wonder whether these guys should be running their garages and calling themselves a sparkie

So what Iam getting at any chance of fitting it for me, I can give you a fee for your time or a few brewskis perhaps

I will be there by mid-december as the school year breaks up on the 9th

Hi Shyam, that shouldn't be a problem, get in touch when you're in town & I'll look after ya. Dissapointing that a sparky couldn't get his head around it, when you see whats involved in wiring it up, it'll make you wonder what the hard part was!

I can point you in the right direction when tuning it, as long as you know it HAS to go on a dyno to be tuned, thats the one big condition that I help install it, I don't want to hear that you've melted a piston for the sake of $150 worth of dyno time!.

you've still got my email?

Yeah sure mate, its in my inbox somewhere. Its a shame as the turbo shop is a reputable shop in dunedin and the owner has a tt 1uzfe in a rx7.

I also suggested a dyno but he said I'd be better of a safc to get rid of overboost...go figure and by that time I had lost patience

Oh well, still strange that the sparky couldn't get it going, he should have been able to install it, and with the offsets all at zero, made absolutly no difference to how it ran at all.
As we discussed, SAFC does a similar job to the DFA, SAFC has a pretty blue screen, and can reference throttle and revs, whereas the DFA has much better resolution & is much cheaper, but can't reference revs, and looks pretty industrial.
Both will do what you need, its just a shame he couldn't get his head around it.
Anyway, this is waay off topic
so just fire me an email when you're ready and we'll get you sorted out.

Don and this may be on interest to others re PCV valve. Got one from Japan and fitted it myself. What should have been a five minute job took an hour cause......taking the old grommet out was a pain as it had set rock hard and very brittle. Thought I should use two pair of long nose pliers to be safe and was fortunate that I did other wise would have lost some of it down the hole. Gripped one side and tore pieces of the other side with the pliers til the remainder came out. Then decided to fit the new valve in the new grommet and fit both in the hole. Doesnt work that way even with a bit of oil around the grommet and while I was pushing and mucking about the damn valve slipped out of my fingers and down the side of the engine and of course with everything covered underneath didnt fall onto the ground. Couldnt see it and not much room to do anything so in the finish decided to jack up the car and take the front wheel off. Was a space there then to put your hand through and have a feel around but took awhile and had visions of having to take the cover off underneath as well but eventually found it./ Worked out then that if I put the grommet in the hole first then the valve into that, no problems. Probably logical to most but not to this bloke. Did the horizontal test on the old one and tipped it from side to side a bit and seemed to make a lot of noise so supposed it was stuffed. Will now be interesting to see if that bit of oil which forms on the top on the cover under the engine stops. One other thing Don, there was an article you sent me about Techron 5000 re using it to clean out inside of engine after adding two bottles to a tank. However after inqiring with Caltex, not available over here. Got hold of my son in Brisbane and apparently sold over there for about $10 a bottle but I would assume that because it probably is combustiable I would not be allowed to carry it on the plane as I go there in about three weeks and am picking up a full set of bushes from Andrew Vlamos and want to have a squiz at his car. Is there any product you know of here that does as good a job as Techron 5000 supposed to do. ???? Regards Rod Quaife.

Sorry Rod, I have done no research into a Techron equivalent product, and I'm a bit leary of some of the "Bling-Bling" products that are touted to cure EVERYTHING that ails the car.
You MAY be able to bring some Techron back with you. I would make a phone call to Air New Zealand, and check what the current regs are. As it's not a pressurised container like an aerosol you might be lucky.

The PCV replacement sounds like it was a total mission!.

Hi Rod,

That is where the optional cup-holder fits. I use it as a handy slot for holding cards & things.

You can still buy the cup holders NEW from Jeff Harper
sales@f1kits.com or from Toyota.
You just need to specify colour.

Just a reminder folks.

Trent at Totally Toyota here in New Plymouth still has a complete set of front discs, calipers and pads from a 1997 TT for sale.

Price: $225.00......CHEAP!.

The perfect upgrade for UZZ30 & 31 owners.

Trent can be contacted on (06)753-4500.

If any of ewe's guys want em, get Trent to ring me during business hours on (06)759-7111, and I'll cart em for free, or cheap if it's the East Coast.

I used to use my empty slot for my cellphone - the new car has the cup holder, which seems to work well for cans but is pretty hopeless for anything else.

So I take it you're rebuilding the broken TT if you're replacing the dented bonnet?? (Nice score btw)
