| Well, after weighing up the cons and pros with owning my Soarers, Ive come to the conclusion to sell them (YES - once again) You might think, ah not again - silly, silly! But at my age, as much as I love them they are a huge financial stress and don't get all the attention I want to put into them. Next year I'm doing a Film/Documentary course which requires 99% of the years time & effort, so there would be little or no time to play with the cars, let alone spend money on them which they require. I figured yesterday if I sold both of them, I would have adequate money in my back pocket (which is far more important) and it would allow me to buy a replacement far more versatile vehicle of some sort, I have a few Ideas in mind... trick now is to sell both these cars, hopefully people become interested in Spring. I'll be selling my Harry Lemmen's V8 ECU and Unichip, as they quite sort after I guess! After next year, if I have the funds to get another Lexus/Toyota model car I'd probably look no further than to a 1999 UCF21 LS400/Celsior. I think they are one of the best cars ever! I'll still be on the forum of course! Just wont have a Soarer, much like Don!

| I actually couldn't be more happy! Already feels like a big weight has been lifted off my sholders! I'm just hoping some qwerky people are willing to buy them at this time of the year! I've already got a few watchers on TM where they are listed so who knows.... I'd say my V8 will be first to go. Good riddance! PS, I will not be buying another Soarer a month later, I've kinda been there and done that 4 times now. |

| Peter, you never fail to amuse me! Hi Matt, I'm parting with my Uni-chip and Harry Lemmen's ECU, both are on TM. I've already got someone coming to look at the V8 tomorrow! Exciting... With freeing up some money I'll be able to upgrade to a decent 3CCD video camera for my course/projects which I hold as more important than spending money on a Soarer at this stage, keeping these cars is prohibiting that unfortunately... so I've had enough of it! |

| HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH I know what you guys mean, I'm just crazy with my car ownership!! Looks like Ill be purchasing a 1996 Surf SSR-G V6. I'm really fond of those Had some one look at the V8 today, the Lady looking loved it but her husband was a bit of a prick and commented at how much some of the body works flaws would cost to fix. So I'd say they are not keen, but in a moment I've got some one coming to look at the 3.0GT... Hopefully Ill be lucky! |

| I would think that the Surf will cost you as much if not more to run than either of the Soarers. The V6 is one of the worst motor's Toyota made - prone to doing heads and makes buggar all power and is quite thirsty. If it was me I would keep the V8, sell the GT and enjoy the ownership of a Soarer! |

| Yeah Mike. As Matt said, those V6 Smurfs suck gas like a Hoover on steroids. Nice to drive, and enough twiddly bits to keep you amused (briefly, knowing you), ultra easy to buy but damn hard to get rid of. If you MUST buy one, DON'T get the 3.0L Oinker. Go for the later 3.4L (They got it right(er) with that one). Also suggest going to Turners and have a GOOD lock at the Ford Escape 3.0L's. Makes the Smurf's feel like a truck (which essentially, they are). Very nice driving experience (apart from the stupidly long column shifter!). Also the 4 banger versions, though I haven't driven one of em. They're going for relatively little money once they've got a few kays on em, and most will have been well serviced by the Frord dealers. |

| Yeah well, I have a thing for the Hilux's. I've heard the 5vz motors are not the best, for some reason I call them the 'spare part toyota motors' haha, later down the track Ill look to doing a engine conversion in one so I'm not really worried about that too much as long as it lasts me a year of a-b driving. I know they are expensive to run (my dad has a ute with those 3.4 V6 motors and its rather harsh on gas) Im willing to put up with that however. Anyway, It's time for a change all I do with Soarers is buy and sell them so I may as well sell mine for good and get something versatile and high off the ground that Ill keep. See what happens anyway! HA |

I don't think I mentioned to you guys I had a 1991 3.0 V6 Surf for a few months at the start of the year, when I sold that that was when I got the limited v8. Was a reasonable truck but as you say a bit of an oinker, very truck like and 80's. Toyota didn't quite hit the nail on the head with that model. In saying that I still enjoyed it but it was a little outdated as of 2008.... The 1995 re-design to the whole range was spot on in my opinion, look great and mechanically similar to even the more recent Hilux/Surf models, very comfortable and versatile too (in the ones Ive been in)... |

Yes, they definitely were an improvement. Oh well, you've owned one, so ewe is knowing what's what from an owning perspective. |

Actually, just a few moments ago I decided to take my v8 Soarer for a run up the motorway just for pure interest to see how it goes, just being 'unconsciously' driven (if you know what I mean!) now that it's on the market for sale......... what I rediscovered It's a fricken lovely car to say the least when you just drive them with out being all finiky with the small qwerks like any car has....... As I was driving it, I thought to myself..... what if I sold both my Soarers and the generally unneeded unichip and Harry ECU... yes I would have a fair bit of cash to get another car (minus a few things I'm due to pay for) If I then found a suitable surf I would be budgeting around 6-7k for a reasonable one with fair mileage like 200,000+ which I suppose is not bad at all for the body but on a 5VZ-FE I would be a little concerned at the amount of life left as they are rather crude engines compare to a 1UZFE (Like Matt says.... and a pig on gas) And just now...... sitting back on my computer, I had a sudden thought, why not just keep my V8 but sell everything else I don't need, The benefits of that would be I don't have to fork out extra money for a Surf (or whatever!) and can just enjoy the V8 like Matt says which is bound to just keep running and running, so allow me just to use it as a car for a-b driving like intended. That way I'd have even MORE funds available at the end of it all to buy a decent video camera + plus accessories required and have a nice cruise car not to worry about, that I enjoy..... rather than something that's more expensive in the long run and will need more money spent on it no doubt. Hmmmmmm............... I think Peter's right I do need therapy. All I do is change my mind! For fook sakes! I think this is probably the more sensible option, your thoughts Don or whoever? |

Ah well, speaking of that - I was thinkin if I do end up sticking with it, I may as well just put the lovely RS6 mufflers and resonators I have on as a cat back system and just drive it around and not do anything else, invest it else where or save. I think that would make it just that extra bit more enjoyable. |

| Hmmm, Tell me about it.. I had this odd dream last night actually, that this Islander lady bought the V8 soarer suddenly and it was bitter sweet as I wanted it to be the 3L, not the V8 anymore. Haha. The mind certainly does funny things... |
