I think, when my 540i's gearbox or engine goes 'kaput' in a major way (If it does) it would be a lovely idea to put the car away for a little while, rather than fixing the repair, spending a small fortune just to make it go as before.
Instead, Purchase a 1UZFE engine and a R154 gearbox along with required components.
Strip the 1UZ down in a garage I have handy, and slowly rebuild it (Discount through a Toyota Manager), get some stronger internal components.
Buy a supercharger of some type, Eaton M90, whatever works at the time, get a chap I know to make up the manifolds and brackets. Fit all that to the engine.
Sort out a stand alone ECU.
Throw it all into the 540i, have it setup, the diff connections done right etc etc and etc.
Then have a 350-400BHP with torque to match, supercharged V8 (reliable Toyota) powered manual BMW E34 540i!
