Greetings Kiwis! We are visiting Kiwi in January- does anyone know where one can get sheepskin seat covers over there? My wife likes them, and they look great. I know Kiwi is full of sheep, but do they make decent covers? Aussie covers are usually from Merino cross beasts- nice and soft. How would I go getting them for the Soarer given that the car will be... at home here? Any ideas welcome. Thanks, Mike

Check out the duty free shops as you come through the airport to get an idea of price then it depends on where you visit. Napier has a sheepskin factory shop and a lot of old small dairy factories are now used as local craft stores and are worth a look. If driving down SH1 from Auckland then stop off at Huntly (just before the lights) there's a sheepskin shop. Probably no chance of a fitted set, unless you catch hold of one of the Soarer guys and borrow their car, so may have to do with a universal type. Bear in mind the weight and bulk when travelling back. When I used a sheepskin, one you usually throw on the floor, I found them to be a bit dusty.

There is a "drive in" place in Panmure, Auckland that fits on the spot. If you wanted to arrange before hand I could probably meet you there with my car.

Oh, and Kiwi sheep are superior to Aussie sheep - softer and tastier =) Comes from not having to survive in an arid waste land I think.

Ahhh, thanks guys.. I thought we wanted to wear sheep, not eat them (although NZ lamb is tasty) in this instance. Thanks for the offer, Matthew, I'll discuss the issue with my wife who's still OS at the moment, and get back to you. It would certainly help to have a "pattern" car, and I appreciate the bulk of a set of skins. I also have two air/water intercoolers to pick up!

The only issue is your G-Pack will have the electric seats won't it? Mine are all manual adjust, other than the electric lumbar - not that they look to be any different in size or shape from the electric ones...

Yes, Matthew, our seat are electric. The '95 is still in the yard, I can put the two side-by-side to compare electric ('97) and manual seats. When the '97 gets back from panelbeater's. Cheers.

Don, just got back from Brisbane and saw Andrew Vlamos Soarer, jet black and looks like newer than new, in other words, perfect. He has fitted a rear windscreen wiper to his . I think you have a levoc gearshift, does that fit without any hassles. Got one coming over. Would appreciate knowing of any difficulties you. had fitting it. Regards, Rod Quaife. Now also have a complete set of Vlamos bushes so will fit them one day. Rides pretty well at the moment.

Matthew, it was in while my wife was away to have shipping damage fixed as well as that from its life in Japan. Ended up having every panel painted except boot and bonnet, looks really nice although I'm paranoid about Norfolk drivers now. The paint's probably safer than in Sydney though. The shop had the car for nearly 5 weeks. I fitted new side repeaters and foglight globes while it was apart as well as gold soarer badge and woodgrain for the door switches. On top of that a leather handbrake cover. I'll post some pics in another thread when I get some decent ones.

Cool! I dont think I could wait 5 weeks myself, but then I guess you have the other car to use in the mean time.

Around 2000-2500, Matthew- with up to 1000 tourists at any one time. It's not especially crowded, the land area is 31 sq km. We live on 3 1/2 acres (with 2 houses on the block, owned by my employer, not me, unfortunately)

Ah, so it'd be easier selling a car on Waiheke!

Sorry Rod, I've been "Out of touch", shall we say. The Levoc shifter is a relatively easy job, allow about 1 hour to do the job. The hardest part (In my case) was adjusting the vertical position of the shifter to ensure correct engagement of the parking detent, and smooth engagement of ALL shifter positions. BUT, in the end it's fairly intuative. You should've got the ENGLISH instructions with your kit, and all details are covered in there.

We have a friend here from Waiheke, and yes, I'd imagine it would be easier as there's a ferry to the mainland- something we don't have. It's $2-3000 to ship a car back. Also people have more money, on Waiheke, given its "upper crust" price bracket. People work 3-4 jobs here to keep going.

Waiheke used to be an "Alternative" lifestyle type place, as in, if you didn't wanna do a hell of a lot, it was THE place to reside.
