I need a differential for a 1992 jzz30, torsen or open. ideally a whole diff so I can just swap the whole thing, casing and all, but if you have a centre let me know.

yeah I found a second hand Torsen in the end. are you still after a diff to weld for racing? the old one is a mess inside but should be good to lock up still.

it took us about four hours to put my torsen on, and that included opening up the new diff to make sure it was sound inside, it is fairly straightforward as far as anything to do with a soarer goes. the diff is held in by five big bolts, two are 19mm and three are 12mm allen key, and there are six 10mm bolts on each axle shaft, and three bolts , about 17mm, on the driveshaft.
you will need a socket set, ringspanner set, allen key set, or just those two sizes of keys, a strongbar and an extension bar for the allen key bolts, a decent jack and axle stands.

a hoist will make the job a lot easier, another thing that will help is having a controlled way to raise the diff into place, I used the jack while the car was on stands, but something like supporting the diff and lowering the car onto it could work for you

Lucas, I'm possibly going to be removing my diff this weekend. Just to clarify, you're saying that 12mm and 19mm allen keys are required? I can see the 12mm socket-head bolts on the rear diff mounts but the front diff mounts appear to be held on by standard 17mm bolts...

no, you are right, the front two are standard 19mm or 17mm bolts, there are three 12mm allen key bolts at the rear of the diff and 6 10mm allen key bolts on each axle shaft
