Me thinks Michael, you should go and find a GOOD JZZ31 6-pack,UZZ30 or UZZ31 V8 (like yours, but with ACTUAL running gear, instead of VIRTUAL! HaHa) and see wotcha think. I DON'T mean to buy necesarily, more for evaluation purposes
I know on our UZZ30, the brakes are VERY powerful, and make the car seem way lighter than it is under braking. Our brake system is bog stock, including the std. Toyota pads.
IF I drove it like a loopy thing, I WOULD upgrade to TT front rotors & calipers, for the extra beef required when hauling up from high speeds without undue fade, BUT for my style of Nanarish pootling along, the stockers are MORE than adequate

( , I'm going to. Hmmmm, I am coming down to your neck of the woods in a few weeks. I might have to find your place and nick your one for 1/2 an hour or so before you miss it.
MAtthew seems to be in the best position to compare. I may even keep my Levin when I finally upgrade.
I'm looking forward to actually driving a good one, whenever that might be. For now, I'kll have to content myself with sitting inside my bare shell, on top of the exhaust cowling, and pretend.

Michael- the under-bonnet photos on Trademe are in my opinion the best indication of what to expect from a 2nd hand Soarer. If it looks like it's been nesting generations of rats under there, then it's pretty safe to assume that the rest of the car will also in the same condition..
I had to laugh at her description of the car - (ALL CAPS TOO!)
First word = "AWESOME" and then goes on to list all the problems.

I have to agree with you there - when I first saw those pictures I instantly though this soarer was a poorly looked after example - and wow it sure is!

I almost didn't drive it, it looked so shoddy. The driver's side headlight was practically full of water too. As for the under-bonnet photos, she claims to live down a gravel road, so that would explain SOME of the dust and dirt. However, I have to say I live down a 150m gravel driveway that I usually drive at 40km/h along, only clean my car for dates, and the under-bonnet doesn't even look dirty, so I shudder to think how neglected some of these trade-me cars are.
N.B. This isn't to say I neglect my car. It is very well maintained under the dust.

To answer Marks question. My old V8 went down southland way. From what I hear, the new owner has re-chipped it and fitted NOS. I also hear he has a few new dents in it. Bummer...
I finally got $7000 for it. Turners Auctions offered me $2000. YEA RIGHT!!! I think they should compair apples with apples. They said this was based on the last three Soarers they had sold. Judging by some of the comments about the condition of of the Soarers you guys have seen for sale, I can see why they were only getting around $2000 for the ones they sold. But in all fairness my Soarer was not a recent non-maintained Japanese import and should have been appraised differently. Anyway what can you do?
I personally think it was worth more (but I would). I would have loved to have keep it, but I had no where to park it and I had to pay for my new toy somehow.
