I'd suggest waiting to see if David has a response before everybody jumps ship.

I'd also suggest that you may not be entitled to your money back if YOU decide to pull out of the deal.

Legally, I don't think David would have a choice but to refund the deposits to those that wanted them.
If you read through this whole thread there is a lot of promises that have not been met.

Dan, I think thats a pretty stiff judgment, considering that participants have had their cash deposited over 6 months ago and they have been faithful to the deal, right up until now due to the time it has taken and the lack of organization. Everyone expected to have the kit fitted and painted by now - which is a fair call.

I would recommend that people stay with the group buy, but stipulate a mutually convenient time for the kits to be completed and ready for shipping, such as the end of May. Deadlines must be set to get an idea of where things are going and what to measure up against. Molding the kit and producing the first copy should take 1 week for a professional fiber glasser, 2 weeks at the most (10 days) for 3 pieces to be done and first copy produced. This includes modification time and test fitting time. Mods would only take 1 whole day (8-10hrs) as the kits are pretty spot on, and just need a touch up here and there.

Guys, I moved this to the Group Buy Topic - where it should have been in the first place, so it should auto-archive and be more manageable.

Yes it is, I may be incorrect but I don't think David ever gave a deadline on when this would come to fruition.

I agree it has been dragging, but if there was no deadline then everyone who paid a deposit did so without a deadline being a condition on the deal.

I think David needs to come clean with what's going on, take 1 minute out of his day to grab a couple of quick photo's to show everyone that they aren't being taken for a ride, and put a time frame on the order.

If that can't be done then he, out of good character, should make the refund to anyone who request's it, but I don't think he is compelled to.

There has been several time frames that David has mentioned and the most recent one was made around the 18/3/10 stating 1.5 months.

Either way legally he would not have a leg to stand on.

Guys, we seem to be on the home stretch, I know it has been a long process, and the lack of regular communication has been frustrating, but lets hear from David before jumping ship. I have bought group buy carmats from David before and have been very happy with his service and his product. Don't particularly want to start from scratch with a whole new deal.

It was also mentioned in the thread, that if the group buy were not to go ahead, then those who had paid deposits for the kit would lose only $100, and be refunded the remainder...

QUOTE FROM THREAD:

About that scenrio i have emailed you back an answer. Also furthermore to what that emailed contained, this will be the reasons why length contracts will be written up to protect us all and that the promises are delivered upon. Also worst case scenario will be that everyone is $100 out of pocket which seems pretty damn good considering you could spend $600-$800 for an ebay kit and find out it is ••••• So $100 or there abouts is the maximum risk involved in this and then i refund everyone involved the rest of the retainer so $250 or there abouts.

guys David has done alot for the community in terms of group buys so I think dont jump ship on him yet he has a great track record and is not really making a financial or economical profit from all his time and effort besides getting himself a kit.

I agree, stick with David's group buy.

If Shine is producing 3 a week we are still going to have to waiting at least 5 weeks for them all to be finished, then they have to be shipped to Australia and then sent to different states.

If these turn out to be the quality that David has promised then it will be worth it. Dave has done a lot for the group buy he just needs to communicate a bit more often and get things moving.

If the original plan to go with the shine kits went ahead the kits would all be here fitted and everyone would be happy.
I am not having a go at David but this buy has been so over-complicated and the lack of communication and progress is very disappointing.

Anyway I have decided to go for a shine kit which should be here in a couple of weeks, so I will no longer be adding my 2 cents worth.

Timeline:

14th April: Test fitting the front and taking Sebastian point of getting ACTUAL pics (i should have used my phone camera for the rear and sides but i never use it so the thought never entered my mind. Thats why ive had to show work on example photos.
14th April: Come home after the test fit and my home was broken into. Caught the guy
15th April: Busy with the cops.
16th April: Court for property damage.
17th April: Work
18th April: Work
19th April: More court hearings
20th April: Work
21st April: Uni and car booked in for Friday 23rd to finish front bar. Also started working on compiling/ editing photos take from the 14th April work.
22nd April: Get a email from Murray saying a storm is occurring online. Pulled an all nighter doing more photo work but dont post as i saw one comment from the thread and knew instantly what it had turned into. Thus posted nothing as i didnt want it to seem like i had made a post but ignored questions. So now im in a spot where i have to post everything i need to show and say + answer questions otherwise nothing otherwise some people might read into it as i dont want to answer questions.
23rd April: Work
24th April: Slept due to been up for more than 48 hours working on photos and at work. Also organise some stuff for the soarer central.com cruise
25th: Dawn service for ANZAC DAY, more work for cruise, attended cruise, went to my cousins wedding, went to reception.
26th April: Slept due to been up for more than 48 hours.

Proof of court issues coming from the incident that occurred on the 14th of April.

Junkie thief taken away by cops, you can see he wrecked my gutter getting onto the roof and into my house via the roof.

Flaring up at the corners of the untouched Shine front bar top

Again flaring up and sticks out a fair way with the bonnet closed.

Front on view that shows the offending flare + also notice the gap under the headlight.

Again a clearer shot of the gap under the headlight

Flare been sanded back, also there is a curve there near the corner of the front bar that should be there from stock that is retain now with the flared corners gone. Also there is a slight issue with the hi beams not fitting, pics will follow below.

Shows the corner is more pronounced as there is a gap there from the top of the front bar corner to the bonnet. Corner flare is gone aswell as the whole top of the front bar is now flush with the lines coming off the bonnet. Again hi beam photos will be up in a second.

Corner fixed up, no more flaring, line of the bonnet to the front bar flows now.

Just another pic of it done. Sharpening the corner more will be done during final fitting once you get your kit. It now is like the stock 97+ kit at the corner, however i myself will be sharpening up the corners of the final product. Its all up to personal preference and your fitter should be doing this for free.

Close up

Line transition from bonnet to the front bar all done and the other corner also done.

Whole front bar view with alterations

Whole front bar on and trying to capture the gap below the lo beam headlights + the guy mucking around with to the right with headlight and checking the gap.

Just a crack which is how we got the kit that needed attention

Another shot of crack

Fitment of the hi beam. Doesnt sit right as it does like from factory. Cant really tell from this photo.

Shows bottom gapage of hi beam

Left hi beam gappage + hi beam doesnt sit correctly

Again shot of the gappage around the hi beam

Fog light gappage

Fog light installed, gappage all the way around but cant tell from this photo. Will be evident below

Massive issue with gap all the way around the fog light evident by all the light coming through.

Again shows gappage of fog light

photo of the front with hi beams and more mucking around with the fitment of fog lights.

Again shows the massive issue of gappage the whole way around the fog lights.

Top view of gap

Bottom Gap

From all the talk and photos ive studied it looks like Shine has just made a mould of the Auto Couture kit straight out of the box. The reason behind this thinking is that the Shine kit exhibits the same flaws as that of the original Auto Couture kit. Here is a car with a genuine kit with highlighted parts of the problems with our kit as its easier to see without all the dust in my photos. The car has the same dramas as my photos above so seems logical that Shine kit is identical to an Auto Couture kit.

Flaws highlighted + the correct part is also correct on ours.

Other side now with the fog light gappage more evident.

Highlights of the problems that our kit had when i didnt think to use my phone camera to take shots. This original AC kit has the same problems that our Shine kit had which are now rectified.

Other side of the problem we ran into been highlighted on this AC original kit.

Just an illustration as its easier to see but our kit doesn’t have this wonky top part of the front bar. The top part of the front bar is parallel to the bonnet.

Ive done some calcs on a total cost of finished products.

Shine kit
Approx $1500 Shine kit+$300 test fit + $1300 modifying the kit +$ 1200 paint + $100 grill + $450 foggies + $400 door mould = $5250

Our kit
1500+ 1200 test fit and paint + 100 grill + 450 foggies + 400 door moulds = $3650

Factory under trays will be able to fit but we wont pre drill the holes as there are two ways of securing the under tray so that you don’t have unwanted holes you can do it to your own personal preference. One more day is needed and the hi beam work will be done, no low beam gap will be there, foggies will not have a huge gap all the way around. Only thing you will need to do is sand back a little tab on the back of your OEM grill as it hits this thing that is on the kit within the slot for the grill. Its just easier to sand the tab back a little bit during fitting once everyone has their kit.

Rob Rojo

"Everyone has been extremely patient David and your holding a lot of money on behalf of others and really have done nothing but make excuses since the shine kit has landed.

There has been several requests for information that you have either ignored or just come up with some long winded excuse.

It really can't be that hard to take some photos of the kit (what no camera phone?) to show the actual kit and the progress.
There have been several people ask where the kits are being produced with no response.
An ETA of completion.

And personally if it was me, I would be refunding Scott.W his deposit as he obviously gave up and bought a shine kit and I think that goes to anyone wants out."

I would agree people have been very patient and will be getting a private email asap from me regarding something. As for "excuses" your an idiot mate, its called an explanation which i think people are entitled to seeing as i have their money. If i didnt give these so called "excuses" you would be accusing me of not telling people what is going on. The way you want it i cant win.

Please send me or tell me what ive missed, no doubt i have but not on purpose. There is heaps of posts and i get emails aswell and im a one man show so with so much coming in i could have easily missed something.

As for photos the day (about 2 weeks ago) that Sebastian brought it up i released i could have taken photos with my phone. I havent used the camera on my phone for nearly 2 years so the thought didnt cross my mind, i forgot that i could take snaps with the phone. So the same day Sebastian brought it up he was right and i took pics with my phone camera + proper camera that got up from fibreglass dust.

As for the refund for Scott its not gonna happen as that was the point of the retainers that by people not making an informed decision wouldnt result in needing more money from the people who were serious.

If you read through this whole thread there is a lot of promises that have not been met.

I have no interest in keeping peoples money, ive said it from the start and i said it end of March. This was discussed 2 weeks prior to the first bad post around mid April and people wanted to keep going with the SA product. I had many emails about it and that was that. We made a decision and went ahead. This is what pisses me off is that we had the talk late March and 2 weeks later we get side tracked with the same talk. If people want me to use my time here repeating myself instead of actually working on getting this thing out then its gonna be a long wait. The decision was made late March and thats it, i said we wouldnt get side tracked with bullshit again and im planning on following through with that.

People will receive a email about so called promises. There is a heap of behind the stage stuff that i have to do and is pointless in posting it up as its not a good utilization of my time.

Skirts are in, rear bar is stilling at the ware house waiting for the call to be made to start that mould. Onlything holding it back is that ive asked several times for people from different states to measure their plates so we can make the number plate hole to suit the biggest plate and thus no one needs to bend their plate to fit. To this day im waiting for people to do this and to date no one has given me a single measurement. Obviously i have the measurements for SA plates. However seeing as i said no bending i keep hesitating on going back on wait ive said. The last few days ive been on the brink of saying it and throw it in the mould as there isnt much more i can do about measuring plates. thus some people might be able to get away without bending and other might not. Eitherway the need that info a while back and it hasnt happened, either people give me the measurments otherwise ill give them the green light.

Ok so just a bit of info on my said and perspective of what im doing so you guys can appreciate all my input. Im multi tasking like crazy, making sure that this thing comes to the budget and there is no blow out (fibreglass and resin went up 11% yet the price hasn’t gone up a dollar due to thinking about a solution to the problem and making it work0, working out logistics of freight, collecting cash, answering questions and emails, organising bubble wrap and planning for when ill be doing it so we aren’t charged for however long it takes to bubble wrap each kit, making sure everything is as we want it, supervising that everything is done properly and to our spec, physically helping the guy do stuff to make it go quicker and cost there is no labour cost blow out, giving up my own car to make all this happen, finding large chunks of time to make myself for free and the car available to make progress happen, co-ordinating when he and i are both free at the same time, research other peoples experiences with fitment of shine and genuine AC plus looking through photos of these kits fitted. All this and im SOLO.

So at time i have to go missing for a bit in order to make progress on the kit and then make up whatever i neglected to make time for the kit (ie uni). There are days when i go without sleep for 48+ to make it happen and all work together with my employment and uni studies. So there are time i cant come on here right away, perfect example was that prior to the mid of April i was on here every day or two posting and then after some junkie thief broke into my house and took heaps of car parts meant for the black one i had to make that a priority over posting. There are things like that which i cant plan for an have to deal with as they come but my priority is for the kit to be moving forward and posts can wait a little. If there was any other way of dealing with my commitments + the kit + unexpected stuff happening and posting every single day then i would. Its this unexpected problems that eat into my very limited free time. I just don’t have the time to move forward with the kit and keep making these massive posts. It was settled at the end of March and let move forward in that direction without sidetracking.

Also there are things that i can hardly be blamed for that people accuse me of and i was fine with taking the hit for it inorder to not waste time going through every nitty gritty detail. No point talking about it if it doesn’t achieve us moving forward with progress.

Im all about doing whatever is necessary to constantly have progress occuring so please if people can keep posts to topics that lead to progress that would be appreciated. Questions, queries and suggest are welcome like they always have been.

David,
Wow, I really don't know how having a body kit copied can become so complicated and long winded.

Call me an idiot all you like but you still want to complicate things further and give everyone your life story. Bottom line is everyone just wants a date as to when the kit will be completed.
No one is rushing you but as mentioned everyone has been very patient with very little response till now.

Anyway I have sourced a kit elsewhere and have no further interest in this group buy, goodluck with it hope it all turns out well.

Well i guess you will never know how complicated it is as you dont like explanations.

Well actually i shouldnt have called you an idiot so i take that back, it just got under my skin as the way you put it is that im making things up to cover my tracks. Ive told it how it is, i could have said yeah it all done and its in the mould to make people happy but i dont make up and tell it how it is.

I know people arent rushing me but ive put the pressure on myself to get this done for a number of reasons which those people that should know already knowing.

Yeah same to you mate, knowing the Soarer you had built last time it should be nice :-)

david i commend you on the effort and work that has been done with this groupbuy, and i understand your situation with work etc and trying to organise this groupbuy.

Unfortuntaely i couldnt wait any longer as my car was apart awaiting a kit, when the shine kit popped up i took this as an opportunity to get my car together and running as it was killing me not being able to drive it.

I have deposited 600 for this kit, and i will be expecting some of this back, obviously not all of it as it was outlined at the start of the groupbuy that there was a retainer.

Like i said i would have followed through with the kit if it was done in a more timely manner, just situations changed with me and required me to get the car going.

Anyway thanks mate, are you able to PM me re working out my situation please? Thanks

Hey David,

Great update, well done. I understand things are tough and there's a lot of professional and personal work to get the kits to the correct level of fitment. FYI, most fibreglass kits, even factory genuine ones, need this special treatment to get it just right. Expect to touch up on a few areas with David's AC copy kit to get the most perfect fit to your car - this is normal as it is the nature of fibreglass!

Please try to jump on the forums and just give people a few updates here and there as they are anxious and impatient because they want that kit ASAP. Communication is the solution to all conflicts :-)

Yeah thats true Costa. Although pretty much everything will be spot on durign the final fit everyone might have to sand a mm or 2 here or there but talking to the guy doing it for us people shouldnt be charged by the place they get to fit it as it always is the case and is part of final fitment. And yeah i agree with regular updates, just sometimes pops up unexpectedly and yeah i have to deal with it all without neglects one thing too much over another. But yeah when i found that junkie guy i wass fuming as it was the last thing i needed to have to deal with the that came from that. Upwards and onwards i say haha

Another thing to note guys - the alignment of the kit may also not be 100% perfect for your car especially if it's been in an accident. Remember that all of these cars were purchased second hand - whatever happened before the car was in your possession is anyone's guess.

When I resprayed my car, I found out the rear driver's quarter had been hit and repaired. If it wasn't for the spray painter's evaluation, I wouldn't of known.

Guys i have an update from David.

His PC has a virus and is getting fixed but for now cannot access net.

The kit is going to be finished either Monday or Wednesday next week and in the mould Friday.

If people can email David with postage details he can start getting prices for delivery for everyone who needs it.

Cheers

Yep exactly right Vinh, my car (ie test car for the kit) is perfect like an arrow so people that havent had their cars in any sort of accident will have the kit fit like a glove. For those that have had accident history with their car then slight alteration might be needed but that shouldnt cost anything as it will be part of the fitted/painted price from the paint shop you get it done at. It should be just usual final prep work unless of course your car has been in a large binge and/or has been repaired in a sloppy manner in the past. Either way there are some areas (around the foggies and hibeams) that have been left intentionally 1mm out to allow for paint and gloss to make a perfect final painted kit but this small margin could also be used for people with a car that has very minor adjustment issues because of accident history.

As of now the ETA is the kit will be in the mould in about 9hrs from now. It has been ready for the mould since Tuesday however i want to get in to take some pics before it goes on a holiday for a month. Check my large post below for more info on progress and whats been happening and why i delayed the mould by a day and a bit to get pics.

Kevin Trac wrote on Tuesday, May 04, 2010 - 11:30 pm:

As above mould is getting started in 9 hours, read below for more info that isnt really necessary for you to know but is relevant to the general scheme of things.

Cheers for that Scott, yeah i got a virus on my laptop and thought i needed to get a new 2.5' harddrive and start again. But i got it resolved to the extent that everything still works besides VLC player (no movies for me :-( haha) Also ill be going through my back log of emails in the next 2 days so dont stress if you havent received a reply or quote yet for postage. But yeah postage delivery details need to be PM'd to me so i can get proper quotes and collect cash whilst the mould is sunbaking away.

Also Scott if your free later on and could give up some time i wouldnt mind some help doing the bubblewrapping as getting them to do it we will be charged which is bullshit but i dont want to derail this now over an arguement over something so small.
