Hey guys, had mine delivered last week. Bonnet looks awesome but of course needs a spray painter/panel beater to sand back the edges and fix a few moulding issues, nothing major, but it won't be a direct bolt on and spray. Also be careful with deliveries with e-go, as when mine was delivered the box was damaged in three areas, ripped etc, luckily no major damage to the bonnet, just a few light scratches.

Cheers,

Lynden do you need bonnet pins to hold it down perhaps? although looking at Masato's photo he hasn't got any.... but he does mention on his post with his photo that he is waiting on them! Bonnets look great though guys

Attempted to fit the bonnet today, and have the exact same problem as Lynden, the bonnet does not fit properly no matter how much you try to adjust it. Had a panel beater/spray painter over to take a look at it, and he said that the reason behind the bonnet not fitting is that the jig which it was made from seems to be the issue and has some form of warp to it. With the bonnet fitted onto the car by only the hinges, and no hoists, also removing the front lock, it still does not fit. The passenger side sits below the front fender line and the driver side is 15-20mm above the front fender line. The bonnet definitely has some kind of warp to it. Applying pressure to both ends of the bonnet to make it sit flush with the front fenders requires a fair amount of force that people using bonnet pins would not like either, and you can see the bonnet flex pretty badly when applying the pressure. Applying pressure to the driver side raises the passenger side above the fender line, so pressure needs to be applied to both sides, and we confirmed that the bonnet is not coming into contact with nothing underneath it either. Will get in touch with Blits to inform them of the issue and see what the problem may be, $650 for a bonnet that does not fit and is way out like this is a pretty big let down. But will speak to them first and see what the go is. Apart from the warp it seems to have, the look of the bonnet is awesome and the factory lines are perfect.

Pics:

Photo of underneath bonnet, no hoists, bonnet latches etc, only connected via the hinges:

Also if you look at Masato Hara photos on the previous page you can see that the drivers side is raised more than the passenger side as well.

Hey Rob, the bonnet came with the two holes for the hooks already cut out, seems that Blits picked up on this.

Can I leave contacting Blits to you? I can email you higher res photos if you need for them to look at.

Probably best to get them to fix it now before further bonnets are manufactued and sent out.

Yeah, send the photos to me and i'll get on to it.
It could be as simple as the holes for the hinges not being in the correct place but I will see if blits can test fit a bonnet at the workshop.

if it warps when you do the hinge bolts up maybe need some kind of spacer for a bolt to stop warping?

Ok, had a few minutes to test fit the bonnet and found out the cause of the problem.
It is actually fouling on the bonnet latch (not the safety but the actual cable latch).
I removed the latch from the car and bonnet sits nice and flat and just needs some minor adjustments to line up the gaps.
The solution for this could be as simple as shaving some of the metal down on top of the latch as well as filing some of the underside of the bonnet.
I will speak to Blits to find the best solution.

Here are a couple of pics sitting as it should

After all this, I now find that the bonnet won't fit my car due to the turbo pipes being on top of the motor and it will take to much modification of the pipes to make it fit.
It will fit any normal twin turbo, V8 or single conversion just not mine due to the turbo pipes.
If anyone is still after a bonnet let me know.
It brand new and has been test fitted.

Clock the compressor housing so it exits towards the RHS strut tower then route from there :-)

I would rotate the turbo but its a custom manifold as well as custom oil drain and would need extensive mods to suit.

Bonnet looks nice mate . I think you need an engineers cert for bonnet pins if you remove the actual cable latch .

I don't think the Catch will need to be removed. I think it will just need a few mm taken from the bonnet (the bonnet is really thick at the catch area. Plus could always lower the catch slightly as it sticks up a fair bit.

Just an update, I tried fitting the bonnet again this weekend with the bonnet catch removed (which is attached to the car) and the bonnet still sits the same way. It touches the front on the passenger side and is about 1 inch up on the driver side. Having a good look underneath, nothing is now touching the bonnet whatsoever to prevent it from sitting flush. Will wait for Josh's update to see what Blitz comes back with.

As soon as I removed the bonnet safety and latch it sat flush but there is also the switch on the left side of the rad support that is spring loaded and due to the weight reduction of the glass bonnet it hold that side of the bonnet up slightly, remove that and it should sit flush.

Not sure why yours isn't fitting.

So you have removed the catch on the bonnet, the safety latch off the radiator support and also the main bonnet locking latch (the one that release the bonnet from inside the car)?

Just had a look at mine, I removed the latch on the bonnet and used paint marker on the strike and closed the bonnet. The strike (Main locking latch)to touch the bonnet preventing complete closure. The safety latch the spring loaded one used to open the bonnet after popping it from inside the car doesn't seem to foul on the bonnet.

Removed the strike and bonnet closes completely but the front left and right corners still sit a little high, like bonnet is not correct curvature.

not much but noticeable.

I have removed everything there is from the front of the bonnet and it still does not sit right. Will post some photos up on sunday showing the difference from the right side and the left with a ruler to show the distance the bonnet is out by. Just to reiterate, there is nothing on the front that would cause it to not sit flush, and still the right hand side sits higher above the front quarter panel by around 15cm.

Panel beater guy still reckons it may be a mould issue causing the problem, also may be that i have a faulty bonnet, and others are not as bad or ok.

Would really like to get this sorted as I want to spray the car soon, and $650 for a bonnet that doesn't fit right is a bit of a let down. As per joshua, I am fussy and want it to fit properly without hacking at it. Have blits been able to provide any update or test on a soarer themselves?
