| Hi again all, I am able to have milled custom Billet finish soarer boss kits that WILL SUPPORT THE FACTORY CRUISE stalk. Problem is - they are not cheap and I need to order a minimum of 10 for a run to be made. The price will be $190 a unit (plus P&h). If you want the matching billet horn button then that's an extra $33. They will look basically like this (I'll need to confirm if the two finishes are available).
I'll place an order if there is at least 8 people interested. So please post up your name if you are. |

I've had a Momo Course hanging on the wall in my garage for six months waiting for something like this to come up. If Gregg pulls this off it'll be tops-YOU CAN USE THE FACTORY CRUISE CONTROL STALK!!! |

| Sad thing is I will probably paint it matt black as I am trying to keep the car looking sedate. Just spent a week painting my FMIC and front pipes matt black, and my wheels gloss black because the car was starting to look a bit skyline-ish (read: Brash, cheap and nasty) |

| The most annoying thing is Gregg, that if you get the ten orders and have them made someone(probably me) will get on here and say how good they are. Then you will have another ten people asking for one. There seem to be a lot of fence sitters until someone takes the plunge. If I had the cash I'd get one or two extra just to get the order going and then sell them off afterwards - at an inflated price to cover my...um...handling fees of course. |

Hi Yang - according to my system, emails from you: 24/09/06 message requesting account details 24/09/06 you stating that you will send money on friday for the gear knob 26/09/06 You confirming you made payment 27/09/06 You requesting info to get back online at SC because you were banned All using your hotmail address. Further as per the auction details for the shifter you purchased it was an ex demo unit and in the auction details explained that no screws came with it. I really want to keep the standard cruise control stalk if it is possible and this seems like it will be my best option. Gregg, if you can't get a smaller order, and you still need all 8, I can order 3 of them and sell 2 of them off later if that helps. |

Are we able to come in and pay cash for these and take them, or would you prefer to send them in the mail to people in Perth? Also, can you Anodise Stainless, or can you only anodise Aluminium? I would like to paint mine or anodise it so that it isn't so blingy. Can you recommend anyone (In Perth) that can Anodise them (If it can be done)? |

| Ok, this is the deal and process: I need payment for these up front to place the order. Unfortunately no pick-ups for logistical and security reasons. If you don't pre pay then you don't get the boss kit at the group buy price. I am at this stage unsure if I am going to continue stocking the product due to minimum quantities, so if you are not in and prepaid I can't guarantee I'll have any more even after the group buy at normal prices. So if you want one you need to prepay NOW using the following process: Price is $190 plus $15 postage and handling = $205 anywhere in Australia. If you are international please email me for a postage cost admin@importscene.com.au Go to: http://www.importscene.com.au/prod766.htm Put 205 in the QTY field and then progress to the checkout for payment (it will calculate 205 x $1 = $205 inc. GST). I will post back a list of all the people that have paid. The faster all monies are received the faster the order can go in and production started. If you are on the list or are keen to get on the list then the fastest way to get this happening is make your payment NOW!! Cheers. |

| I think this will follow the usual Soarer Central path of: 1. waiting until we have received and fitted the new product 2. and then posted how good it is and answered peoples questions 3. seeing one in the flesh at a SC event 4. suddenly a huge demand for the deal that closed a month ago! It is just natural for people to be sceptical of new offers/products etc especially where some investment is required. In this case we have invested some time(patience!) and the reasonable purchase cost to get a product that will fill a niche market and suits my needs perfectly. |

| Ben, I also think its a case of most people dont want to wait over 3 months for an item. If they had a steering wheel ready to go, they probably didnt want to wait over 3 months before they put it on. Most peoples dont have the patience. And thats why others probably pulled out. |

| The way I see it- I did not have one before Gregg offered to organise this. I don't have one now. I have no other prospects for a Boss kit maintaining cruise control. So when these turn up I'll have something I need(read want) that I did not have before. Any time spent waiting is null and void if there is no other option as if I hadn't ordered this one I'd be no better/worse off. But I do see your point and completely understand. Personally I do not like to make an agreement verbal, typed, or otherwise and pull out after someones time, effort and cash has been invested. |

| Troy - there is no further update. If you can't wait any longer I can refund your order. I can't do anything about it. It's completely with the manufacturer. If I had even 1 it wouldn't be in my hands for more than two seconds. Backordered items like this are straight back out the door. I can't make them magically appear. It's just as frustrating for me and I'll definately be having second thoughts in offering custom items in the future. Too many headaches for a couple of dollars...The amount of phone calls, emails and faxes I have sent already between those that have been patiently waiting and the manufacturer themselves has killed any small profit there may have been... If anyone else cannot wait and would like a refund then let me know and I'll process it for you. |

As a quick fix i guess what you can do is trim down the plastics on the base of the cruise lever (screw holes etc) so it looks clean and tidy (neat rectangle box with lever protruding to the side) then glue (with clear silicone) the base behind the steering wheel if there is sufficient space. Hope it helps you out

| OK - some BETTER NEWS !! Here it is from the horses mouth: _______________ Hello Gregg, The production of Soarer boss kits is taking place over the next couple of days. They should all be ready to ship to you Monday morning. Our apologies for the delay. The demand for our manufactured products has exploded over the last couple of months and has caused some time frame problems. Cheers |

| When it rains it pours.... There was a major accident with the boss machine. Here's the pics he sent to me:
Here's his email to me: ________________________________________ Hi Gregg, Bad news I’m afraid. We commenced production on these boss kits on Saturday morning and on the very first boss, for reasons we are still trying to piece together, the work piece came out of the jaws mid-cycle at around 3,500rpm. The aluminium billet at that stage was around the 2kg mark and was sent flying into the safety glass door and other peripheral tooling. I was standing in front of the machine at the time and as a result I was hit in the face with glass fragments. After a trip to the hospital on Saturday with face and eyes full of glass, today is my first day back at work since seeing doctors for follow-ups yesterday. Despite the damage to the machine itself, all major systems appear to be okay. I have organised replacement parts for the machine and we hope it to be up and running later in the week. I have attached some photos for you to see (smashed door, smashed chuck jaw etc). I am so very sorry for the delay in completing your order Gregg and I just hope your customers understand. Please feel free to forward this email onto your customers if you deem it appropriate. Kind regards, John (with a new found respect for ballistic glass) |

| No problems Ben... Also just received an update from the manufacturer: --------------------------------------------- Hi Gregg, Just a short email to keep yourself and your customers informed. I am just waiting on replacement glass to arrive for the door. The glass is not your everyday glass and is being shipped from the eastern states. It is due into Perth next week and my door should be back to me late next week. Once it arrives and is reinstalled, we can then start testing the machine for alignment / accuracy etc. I will advise further once the door is back and I will then be able to give a clearer ETA of your order. Thanks again for your understanding. Cheers, |

| I'm going for a new record for the longest time to deliver on a group buy! Seriously though I haven't had any further update since the last. I'll contact him today/tomorrow and see what the story is. He should have had his replacement parts by now. What a pain in the a**... |

| Not good enough Gregg. If the guy is going to reneg on the deal or piss fart around like he is i would expect more than a couple of small glass fragments in the guy's face. I MEAN FOR GOODNESS SAKE! These people are all paying customers. He should have at least been partially blinded or had a finger degloved (everyone loves a good degloving). ..... But in all seriousness, the guy is showing some pretty good natured signs with how apologetic he is and how he is working to get things going again. Says a lot about a manufacturer i guess. |

| OK, here's the latest update: --------------------------- Hi Gregg, I am working on these boss kits as I type (literally)….Machine is finally back together however there are a few teething problems which need to be sorted out which can only be done while it is running. As a result the first few production cycles take longer. 1st part of the machining I hope to have done today/tomorrow/sunday. Secondary machining happens from there. I’ll email you again tomorrow with an update. We run a small part of the program….test….make changes (each change takes a few hours)…run again, and so on. I am really sorry for this delay Gregg but I can assure you we are working feverishly to get it back online asap. Thanks for your patience. |

| Matt - No I'm unsure. At this stage ANY type is good, will have to wait and see. Latest update: _______________________________ HI Gregg, Ok. First part of the machining was finished on Sunday and went without a hitch I am happy to say. Now the second part (milling for cruise control) is being done. However, another dilemma has presented itself. Rob has asked me to confirm the location co-ords for the bolt holes for the cruise control fitment. He has just realised the drilling jig was destroyed in the last batch we produced last year. I wish this was discovered sooner. We have a friend with one of these cars and we are arranging to get hold of it to get his wheel off so we can check. Once that happens it will be very quick. I am aiming for a Friday/Monday despatch depending on when we can get his car. Please let your customers know. Cheers |

| Did everyone end up getting there kits? Now I'm in the market for a new steering wheel... looking at some TRD ones. Can you still get these I'd defiantly want the factor cruise control to be retained. |

| I have fitted mine. Pretty easy. Removing the cruise control from the factory wheel required "torx" (or whatever they're called) driver and was a bit fiddly to install in the new Boss. I took a couple of photos. I could do a small tutorial if required but I need to find the photos which are hidden amongst hundreds of bloody holiday snaps. I painted mine satin black and I am extremely pleased with the result. |

| AHHH. Ok. Gimme an hour or so. Maybe tonight or tomorrow night. Need to find photos and resize them etc. Very briefly: I used etch primer, primer and then a few mist coats of satin black. All septone products from supercheap. Simply followed the directions on the can(s). Alloy needs to be clean prior as greasy hand prints etc will have some effect. I used thinners to wipe it over before starting. [edit] Found the photos +++ jpeg +++ 233405 +++ Upload ++++++ jpeg +++ 233406 +++ Upload +++ |

| To remove the factory steering wheel follow this tutorial http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/9739/12170.html up to the point where you have the cruise control unit out. Using a proper “puller” ($15 from Supercheap) made the job very simple. I had to use torx driver to remove the cruise control from the wheel. You need to strip the other brackets etc as seen in the pics.
At this stage I considered removing the two ‘loops’ or brackets indicated in the photo as they have no use. I decided to leave them on so I could refit the unit to the factory wheel if I needed to. In hindsight I would remove them as fitting the cruise control to the boss is a bit of a Chinese puzzle with the two extra brackets in place. I fed the harness through and put the clip into position in the recess provided first. Look at how the clip fits into the harness and put it up the right way. It is a pain in the arse if you have to pull it all out again. Fit the boss onto the steering shaft lining up the splines. There are some little pins that fit into recesses on the base of the boss for the indicator return. Get this right as having an indicator that doesn’t stay on or refuses to automatically cancel is bloody annoying. Connect up the harness clip. Refit the steering nut and tighten. Connect up the horn. For the earth I used a small ring on a crimp fitting and drilled a small hole to fit a screw to the boss. I could have slipped this under the screw holding the cruise control in place for the earth. Any metal contact will work. Fit the horn button and test the horn. I also went for a short drive to ensure I hadn’t fitted the wheel off centre. Fit any decorative rings etc as per your wheel design. Enjoy.
