Seb, given his workload with projects he has on the go, I wouldnt hold high expectations... but we dont know if we dont try.

I guess for him, he will want to know that if he does it, his time put into creating moulds will be compensated with some profit in return by sales.

Once the first set are created, I'll have them fitted...photos taken and posted up for people to see and to start getting numbers for orders, and I'll create a fitting guide at the same time which will be posted on here when the time comes

Will this just be an over lay or the whole piece in solid carbon fibre?

Peter, have a look in the pics above... are you talking about the piece that is at the top of the first pic? If so, then yes... that is part of the set. Or are you just wanting that by itself?

anyways, further progress has been made on the door moulds.

Hi Tim, no, the surround that the vents rotate in, it fills that big hole in the dash trim, the one that always cracks.

It may be too difficult to do, as you would have to be able to pop out the vent from the cracked surround and into the new one. Fitment would have to be accurate so the rotating vents aren't on an angle or fall out.

If you could do a set of passanger and centre vent surrounds you would probably sell sh!t loads of them as there is not many soarers that have uncracked centre vents, and if they are not cracked now, they will be in the future.

I'll catch up with Jamie upon my return to work and find out.

I'd rather wait until pics of the finished product are up and $ cost confirmed before taking anyones money.

And Peter, thats a very fiddly piece you're asking for, and Scott is right. Unfortunately the time, effort and return for moulding something like that would not be worth it for him.

Update:

Good news and Bad news
Good news- first lot of carbon trims are almost complete. I've attached a pic as a teaser.
Now of course the bad news.. There gonna be a little bit more expensive than i first thought,
Prices:
Group buy $350
Non group buy $450
I dont think people will complain after they see a set of them but you never know.

I repliued to your PM Sebastian, however for everyone elses benefit, I will outline in here as well.

Jamie was involved in a car accident recently, thankfully he wasnt hurt, but it has obviously created a slight setback. I intend to catch up with him soon to see how he is going, at the time I will find out what I can on the moulds.

I assure you all, this isnt going to turn into a Autocouture group buy :-)

Yeah, I'll start finalising numbers for the GB soon.

First thing I want to do is get the trial set fitted to my vehicle for photo's and also so I can do up fitting instructions.

Once thats done I will post it all up.

From there I will start securing orders.

I spoke with Jamie today - The plain set is nearing completion and should be ready for me to collect this weekend.

I expect that it will be the following weekend that I do what I need to do as mentioned above.

Jamie has confirmed it will be cool to do a gauge compatible dash-piece as an option... we will talk more on the cost and logisitics of that when I go to pick up the sample this weekend (all going well)

I encourage anyone who's interested to use this topic for correspondence rather than PM-ing me, if all the info is in here, it makes it easier for me to track down when I start on securing numbers

Thanks and stay tuned

Update:

Spoke to Jamie tonight, prototype is nearly ready, just needs to have vents fitted to make sure everything is perfect with the mould.

As my vehicle is still in the workshop, I havent been able to oblige with this. Basically as soon as EFI have finished tuning my vehicle, I will pick it up then remove my centre trim @ vents for trial fitting to the test piece at Jamies place.

Again, I'll keep this updated as more develops, and have some pics from Jamies once that eventuates :-)

Sorry guys, I hadnt forgotten this - got emailed by another member for an update, figured I best reply here to keep all interested parties involved.

Only just got my vehicle back Monday last week from the workshop. This weekend just gone I was meant to take it to Qld Raceway, instead it was involved in an accident while being towed.

Nothing major, but understandably with how crap the weekend was going, I didnt even think of or care about chasing this up.

That being said, next weekend I will arrange to get the trial fit done.

Thanks again

Took my vehicle to his place today, removed my dash trim & vents for him.

Basically right now Jamie is sanding back the vent cutouts in the dash piece so that they fit perfectly. This will take a little while as he has told me that on wednesday (1/6/11) he has to go overseas for work for 3 weeks.

Looking at how to mount the vents to the trims is something that will need to be worked out as well, as on the woodgrain dash trims there are blocks on the inside which everything screws to.

Anyways, I got the door pieces from him and will have a go at fitting those next weekend

Sorry i haven't been following this thread very closely but have seen some pics and read a few posts and would like to know if you are also making a centre dash console surround in carbon trim? By this i mean the trim that goeas around the air con lcd and also the auto shifter as my vehicle was a limited model it came with all the extra wood grain as well?

Thanks man

Righto - Picked up the centre piece tonight.

Jamie has advised he will supply material to use as mounting blacks to go inside the back of the trims. As mentioned previously it will be up to the buyer to assemble prior to fitting.

I am sending the sample set to the painters to get sanded and clear-coated next week. I will then get to work on the assembly guide (illustrated and step by step)

This is them here... obviously will look 100% better once they have been coated.

Note - dash trim is the genuine CF article... door trim is a factory wooden trim that has a vinyl look adhesive applied to it.

Nice! So what is the total cost for a set of these?

Matt.
