So lets see History, i used to be right into car audio i have trophies showing i had the loudest in my class, never really did performance, until i drove a worked FD Twin turbo RX7 and OMG i was in love but right now my budget is very small so let the car story begin.

Guess its about time i showed my cars i guess im sure some of you have seen me arround and laughed at my paint job. but thats getting ahead of the story.

So let me start by saying i had before buying a soarer no idea about turbos, boost, and only a basic knowedge of mechanical but am learning as i go.

So in september i was looking for a new car i orginally had a work car and i changed jobs so needed a new one, after much looking i found a 1991 twin turbo on ebay, bidded the way you do won the auction for $2950 with roadworthy, the owner intially offered a $2000 buy out non ebay but at that stage i didnt have my pay for another week and by that stage the bidding was higher, so any way i went to pay and he gave me a $500 discount, Bonus i thought :-) thats my rego, so anyway got the car on the road for $3150, good deal i thought, the car did have a supercharger whine i was told it was the turbo's but still didnt really know what was the go was, So when i bought it was matt black i bought it knowing id have to do a repaint, and that was fine, and for that price id need to do some work on it which also was fine because it was driveable.

Any way with in 5 days of owning it i took it to get serviced by a professional so they could see anything i may miss, 800 bucks later i had, hks oil, hks spark plugs moved the air filter with custom piping and a full service including turbo inspection, the turbos i was told had major play and need replacing as soon as i could, not really having any idea i what that meant.

Photo of new intake

My friends all drove it and really like the comfortable interior and with the matt black paint nick named it the panther. after the first wash at a $1.00 car wash as you'll see in the photos the paint started to come off in sections, so as you do i got really sad, but after a few texts from my friends i decided that with the turbos basically doing nothing, i renamed it the Panda for obvious reasons, they are black and white lazy animals that dont really get up and go anywhere.

I have a friend of a friend whos a pannel beater able to fix the paint, great i thought i'll swap the turbos out and do an intercooler upgrade and then work on the paint alls good.

So after a while the Supercharge whine ( best described like a police siren) gave me the absolutle and i came across the Kwinga turbos on ebay, Brand new Stock Toyota CT12a Surplus so the add said but hey $800 delivered for a matched front back, perfect (afterwards i realise that a japanese person selling turbos to the UK shipping from Taiwan was probaly not Toyota ones) so i replaced them, took it in to a mechanic to compelete the swap out, as i did not have anytime to do it myself.

So i forgot to take a photo but lets just say the play was pretty bad, best way i can discribe it is picture a Maccas cup with a straw in it and you shake it thats kinda what it was like heres a pic so you get an idea (yes my paint skills need work)

Got the car back and it was a differnt beast one of my friends was follwoing me back in a skyline driving back from the gold coast in the 110 section we line up and floored it, Normally all that would happen is i'd slowly gain speed, this time i lost traction and the rear end and started a powerslide, Many many profanities went through my head at that stage as i tried to keep it straight, needless to say my very next two purchases were New tyres and a wheel/camber alignment.

so all was good for a bit then i bought the Greedy Front mount intercooler as i was almost sure that the stock one had issues, this was where everything went pear shaped when i notice unrepaired damage, and as you can see things missing, damage to certain areas, while discovering this i remembered a rolling shell on ebay for $500 buy out, so after i cracked the and as you do and bought it. In the sour mood at this stage as you can imagine, My Friends being good about the whole thing put the idea in my head that if the body is damaged why not use it for a drifter because it doesnt really matter if the car gets more damaged as i learn to drift/race/drag. and worse case i'd have a spare motor/parts for the show car.

So notice anything missing?? Yep No intrusion bar only reason i notice was thanks to the diagram on the instructions :-)

Bent Power steering cooler lines explains how on low rev's its hard to steer.

So on to the cars what i have decided that the Green soarer will be painted black and ill recover the interior in black leather as well including carpet dash etc etc with blue accents where possible.

the panda ill sand back to the pearl white and depending, repaint a blue with black accents for a drifer.

My focus at the moment is the show / daily driver and then ill work on the race car.

i took the panda to the mechanics to do a compression test, so that i could determin wiether or not to keep that motor or buy another but everything came back ok so a swap out i is going ahead in the next couple of weeks. i have ordered some hks gear turbo timers, fuel rails air filer, stage 1 or 1.5 shift kit and while the motors out we are going to replace the water pump, timing belt, cam pullies, im going to clean up the motor and paint the tapper cover a blue, at least that is what im thinking for the moment. Hopefully i can afford the Interior soon too the seats to recover are only about $2,000.00 then i have to do the dash and all the pannels, the carpet i am going to try the 2 piece on ebay in the black and get some of the mats like in the group buy to cover them.

Couple of shots of the Green Car:

I have some more photos but cant really load them here at work (stupid iphone) so i'll do them when i get home.

Im Hoping to get some shots in primer this Tomorrow purhaps the Engine bay.

Last night however i went to go get some takeaway and noticed that the floor in the passenger side was wet as i thought it was a leak either in the heater or windscreen, so decided to look under the dash i noticed some wiring that didnt quite go anywhere and boxes pluged in to random things still trying to work out what it was, i was attached with a aftermarket wireing harness into the igntion loom with a what im asuming to be a tacho gauge, random av leads that when behind the stereo, afterwards i couldnt start the car and found that there were other wires that had been cut and removed that i had to splice back in so i could start the car i guess it was some sort of engine imobiliser with an svideo conntection??

The svideo part is what really has me confused, anyway never got around to the leak guess that will be left till next week.

So.... I can now see why some updated are far and few between. Ok interior has been delayed as the lady working on my seats split open her fingers and has been off work for a month. A change in jobs and a change of address doesn't help and the panda....., I just keep finding little things that need fixing and I find myself saying nahh if I wait that bit longer my other car will be ready then something pops up that delays it that bit more but I'm endeavoring to try to have it drivable by my birthday in march..... I hope.... I will upload some photos a bit later I'm just waiting for the Brisbane meet up to start so not alot of time... Oh and to top it off my passengerside quarter glass got smashed by a hammer, so let me tell you about that!!!!

so imagine your going to your first shift at your new job your drivers side handle doesn't work and for some stupid reason you get out of your car while the cars running at a petrol station to grab a drink and then let your car Door shut before realizing that the keys are still in it and because it's 3 in the morning Racq will take 2 hours to come out, and remember that the car is running, you try to use coat hangers and screw drivers to get the keys out to no avail you now only have 5 mins to travel the 10 mins it will take you to get to work and some one offers you a hammer ... What do you do???? Swing the hammer as hard ad you can at the drivers quarter right !!! Exactly, now right about now your thinking I thought he said passengers and you would be right I wielded that hammer with very unpleasant thoughts in mind saying to myself it's ok, don't worry you have a spare on the other car BANG nothing it bounced off ok you think that's the flat side of the hammer let's try the rounded side BANG ......nothing .....so now your thinking as your looking at the drivers window hammer in hand, well thats kinda cool its a strong window
ahh crap do I have smash the window its self no no I'll try the passenger side you get ready for the big swing tap the window on your aiming swing smash the hammer goes right thru... ( it was a bit of a let down i thought it was going to be harder) Then as your reaching thru in to unlock the door your business shirt rips from the glass and you realise you can't reach the handle ahh yes the coat hanger needless to say work looked at me funny when I turned up and as a couple of people said the gas station attendant was proably laughing his arse off I know I would have been

When sanding this back there was some crazy amount of paint in this car we thought the bonnet was bad the rear guards hand 24 layers of paint.

The interior bar the Main dash is out, and the only reasons thats stayin for now is i am dreading looking at the wiring some of its been cut out for no other reason then people were lazy and yes by people i may mean in one or two instances i did but in my defence it was already bad before i got there.

Progress... well Digress, the panda my god so you read above heard the day, imagine then

So anyway guess what i got a week ago my new rego sticker. Guess what it expired then very next day!! oh joy, so anyway as i was driving out to out to work on my car for a few hours then go down and sort out my sticker with the Rta, guess what happend, speeding along @ 90 in an 80 zone (no excusses really) yeah you guessed it pulled over by the boys in blue!!

Now get this after the copper came to my window and me seeing them doing roadworthy inspections on 4 other cars im thinking oh crap here we go, this will be fun, im mean just look at the car, the drivers window doesnt wind down on its own any more, (oh yeah thats new) cant open the drivers door from the out side missing rear quarter glass and is generally an abomintaion to look at, enough said, the officer walks arround my car looks at the front from one angle then the other and says sorry man i have to give you a ticket for the front number plate, as you cant see it from 45 deg on both sides of the car, normally i wouldnt bother but you drove thru the video and i have to give you a ticket its nothing serious just $80 no points.....

Ok i said surpised as hell. sure. gives me the ticket off i go.

LOL, guess thats both good and bad luck there, oh well. back to the story your all really interested in.

So Finally paid for the motor, got the rest of the parts in the mail, oil coolers, new coils and spark plugs, etc, of course typing this out i just realised another heap of parts i need.

Bugger, anyone got, drivers window regulators door lock handle and just about everything inside the drivers door??

The post office i go to, to try and pick up some parts hands me back the package i tried to send the door hinges away in?? go figure they read the return to and kept it for me, makes you wanna cry sometimes.

Any way abosolutly every effort i put in to try to get it done (drivable) by my birthday in a week seems to put it back further.

Fun Times, fun times. So i have decided that if its not ready the 3 sets of wheels i have sitting there for the cars are all going to get "used" just gotta find a place and a time this weekend anyone knows anywhere?? let me know.

For the 2 carpet from ebay, i got it as well and got the charcol colour aint pure black so it ofsets the rest of my car nicely just be careful placing it in cut smaller then what you need to and the two carpet will over lay so you can cut and stitch em together if you want, but your orginal car carpet will have a underlining of foam and the one from ebay wont, so now it will be gappy from the car floor lol, i fixed it buy buying a medium density foam and cutting it to size to lay on the buttom of the car then placed the carpet over, took me a while haha, good luck and yea also attatch the old stuff connected to the carpet to the new one as well, but test fit it first.

Please can somebody donate, sell me, or just save me, with this bloody body harness, for a 91/94 soarer with a sun roof.

as some of you will know my preference to wiring is, if i dont know what it is and one end isnt plugged in or goes no where cut it out, so im sure your thinking ok what did he cut, but honest this time it wasnt me.

I think....

Ok maybe it might have been me.......

So when looking at the wiring harness some bits are missing as (i have decided that) when the chassis was was Parted prior to me buying it, they cut the plugs out when sending the different things to the people who bought them.

I have plugged every thing in and there are still vacant holes where something plugs in so its got me stuffed? any help is good help.

Ok so new exhaust on the panda, few other mods as well i fixed the stupid door handle which I think I mentioned wasn't opening from the outside, and again by i, I mean me, Paul, Dylan, Adrian, arie, and me lots of swear words just to fix a $6 plastic bit. Then I forgot to put the cables back on the inside so now I can't open or unlock the door from the inside :-( anyway just got to shinny my rims and vac the car up the boost and away we go!!

so been a while and been a lot of changes but I am 1 week away from having it in a "roadworthy" condition far from complete but drivable. Woot.

back to the reason for the post does anyone know which Toyota would be the cheapest to purchase a new 1JZZ30 block from I have rung a couple here in QLD but thought there may be some that are way cheaper even with the freight.

Any help is appreciated

If you're going to buy a whole new block, get a 2j block.
